An explosion knocked police officers off their motorcycles on Sunday (July 30) as violence surrounding the election spread through Venezuela.

Dozens of officers were riding through the Altamira neighbourhood of Caracas when the blast went off at the head of the column of vehicles.

Applause from protesters could be heard.

Several police were injured and three motorcycles were burned, according to local reports.
