Downy Woodpeckers build a nest

In the spring of 2016 we had a Downy Woodpecker pair decide to make a nest in the sawed off tree stump near our house. I took video of their work daily until it was completed. This video was taken when the hole in the stump was large enough for them to excavate it from the inside.

This video captures the chirping of the chicks. They were quite noisy during the day and I feared it would draw unwanted attention. One day I found some feathers on the ground outside the nest with a bit of flesh on them. I never found it if it was a chick or a parent that lost them.
