Car theft tries to out run and fails

On June 17, 2020, Deputy Bruner noticed a vehicle driving down Highway 326 that matched the description of a Dark Green Nissan stolen out of Georgia. Deputy Bruner attempted a traffic stop, however the driver, later identified as Timothy Vaughn, decided not to stop and a pursuit was initiated. Multiple units as well as Air-One responded to assist with the pursuit. Deputy Rodriguez conducted a P.I.T. maneuver and the driver surrendered. When the vehicle stopped, Vaughn exited the driver’s door, and Joshua Scott exited the back passenger door. Three juveniles also exited the vehicle, who had been begging Vaughn to pull over.

During a search of the vehicle deputies located Methamphetamine, Heroin and Marijuana all of which were located in the vehicle and in the wallet of Scott. Vaughn was charged with Flee/Elude, DWSLR, Grand Theft and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Scott was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Equipment. Both were arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail.
