Footage shows gunman open fire in London

Dashcam footage caught the moment a gunman leaped out of a car and fired his weapon in a busy street in London. He hit his victim twice in the leg with a pump action shotgun before running back into a car and being driven off. Witnesses screamed as the victim, 24, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg in Clapham, south London, on the evening of Tuesday June 4. Now detectives from the Met’s Trident anti-gang unit have released chilling video footage of the drama unfolding outside The Falcon pub, just yards from Clapham North tube station, in the hope of snaring the gunman who remains at large. Det Con Melanie Burridge said: ‘This appears to be a deliberate attempt on a man’s life with a deadly weapon.

Officers attended the scene, but there was no trace of any victims or suspects. Fifteen minutes later the 24-year-old victim turned up at a south London hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim’s injuries were declared not life-threatening and he has since been discharged from hospital. Detectives have linked this injured person to the shooting. DC Burridge said: ‘As a result of reviewing footage officers are aware that a light coloured Lexus RX 300 on false plates pulls up outside The Falcon pub.
