Fake cops use dating app to 'arrest' and robs man

Three men are accused of posing as law enforcement agents to "arrest" and then rob a man, according to officials from the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. Wednesday in Sevilla Plaza at 4636 West Irlo Bronson Highway in Osceola County. Authorities said after the men confronted the victim there, they made him escort them to his hotel room, where they demanded money and then fled in a dark-colored vehicle.

Deputies said the victim believed he was meeting with a woman he had talked to over a dating app at a convenience store in the plaza. Surveillance video first shows the assailants waiting for the victim to come out of the store.

When the victim comes out of the store, one of the culprits is seen pointing a handgun at the victim and then pulling his arms behind his back. Deputies said the fake cop told the victim he was under arrest. The video shows the victim submitting to the assailants and eventually allowing them to lead him away, which is when, according to deputies, they robbed the victim.
