Armed men grab couple's car at busy gas station

They drove into the gas station in an SUV and drove out in what appeared to be a luxury sports car.

Hollywood police Thursday released surveillance video of an armed carjacking that happened about 11:30 p.m. Dec. 27 at the 7-Eleven gas station at 4112 S. Ocean Drive, just north of Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

The parking lot is crowded with a Coca-Cola delivery truck, several vehicles at the fueling islands and other cars in the convenience store’s parking spaces when what police think is a 2016 to 2018 Kia Sorento drives in.

“They then parked the SUV adjacent to the gas station exit and walked back to the gas station to commit a carjacking,” Hollywood Police Officer Christian Lata said.

The surveillance video shows the two men near the driver and passenger doors of what appears to be a luxury sports car as its two occupants are forced out.

As the car drives away, a man and a woman, clearly distressed, are seen hurrying through the parking lot — seemingly trying to access a cellphone.

The two carjackers are believed to be 25 to 30-years-old and were armed with black, semi-automatic handguns, police said.

The car they took was found a short time later, unoccupied, within Hallandale Beach city limits.
