Washington DC building boarded up ahead of US election

Buildings across America are being boarded up amid fears of possible post-election vandalism or violence.

Footage showed one building on 16th Street in Washington DC having fencing put around it.

President Trump has repeatedly suggested he will not accept defeat and that he may refuse to hand over power if he loses on the strength of postal votes in particular. Armed far-right groups have also vowed to defend him.

Meanwhile, Trump's supporters point to left-wing protests that have seen looting or violence, as reasons to fear post-election trouble.
