What happened during a City Council candidate's traffic stop?

A candidate for Mansfield City Council was detained by police following a traffic stop on August 15.

Mansfield police pulled over Alomar Davenport, who is running for the council's fourth ward seat. He was cited for driving while under suspension and making an improper turn onto Lexington Avenue from Mendota Street, according to a police report.

During the stop, a police officer saw what he assumed to be a gun in Davenport's vehicle and two officers drew their weapons. No weapon was found after a search of the vehicle.
