Small plane falls in Iztapa, report three deceased

A plane of the Redbull team doing acrobatics crashed on the afternoon of this January 24, with a preliminary balance of three people killed and one injured reported the Volunteer Firefighters on Twitter.

The air accident occurred at Iztapa's aeroclub, Escuintla, said a source from the local station of that fire department.

In addition, first responders are in search of another victim in a nearby channel.

The deceased are US citizens María Luisa Schlesinger Sempe and Johanna Passarelli Schlesinger. The third deceased is the pilot of the aircraft, however, the authorities handle two different names.

The injured is the minor Phillip Farr (son of Passarelli), who was urgently transferred by air to a capital hospital.

Alerts to the local fire station began at about 6 pm, for which rescue units were highlighted, the source added.

According to information from the Aeroclub of Guatemala, two Red Bull team planes came to Guatemala and would participate on January 25 at the air show in Iztapa, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the organization.

On its official website, the Aeroclub of Guatemala lamented the tragic accident with “regret and pain” and reported that the anniversary event is canceled.
