Fire Rips Through Downtown L.A. Commercial Building

Firefighters worked to put out a blaze at a building in downtown Los Angeles early Thursday morning, officials said.

The fire was reported at a structure located at 1220 South Wall St. at 4:44 a.m.

Heavy plumes of black smoke could be seen rising from the building in the Fashion District as Sky5 flew over the scene at 5 a.m. Flames appeared to be contained to one area of the building's roof.

Officials said multiple businesses are housed inside the 50' by 100' structure and the fire was affecting three units.
