Chernobyl disaster: the 32nd anniversary of the accident

Chernobyl, Ukraine (former USSR): Exactly 32 years ago, on the 26th of April in 1986, the nightshift crew of reactor 4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Pripyet was doing some very risky power-failure simulations, and they shut off several safety systems for these "tests". Unfortunately, the reactor became uncrontollable whilst these experiments, and eventually reactor block 4 blew up, sending tons of highly radioactive material into the environment.
