Bodycam footage released of deadly officer-involved shooting

The Henderson Police Department has released bodycam footage from the fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred on Nov. 20 near Marks Street and Warm Springs Road.

According to HPD, officers responded around 7:15 p.m. to the Pizza Hut in the 1200 block of Warm Springs Road in reference to a panic alarm coming from the freezer.

Officers located a 35-year-old male employee who was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported in critical condition to Sunrise Hospital, though his condition was updated soon afterward to stable.

Witnesses on scene directed officers to the area the suspect was last seen.

The male suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Kenneth Simeus, Jr., was seen walking across the street at Sandhurst Drive and Marks Street armed with two handguns.

Officers made contact and Simeus immediately opened fire at the officers. They returned fire, striking Simeus. He was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
