Hundreds gather in Russian city of Ulan-Ude to call for release of Alexei Navalny

Hundreds gathered in the Russian city of Ulan-Ude today (January 23) to call for the release of opposition leader Alexei Navalny and "other political prisoners."

Police moved to disperse crowds at the unauthorised rally and made about 10 arrests, according to witnesses.

Navalny, who survived a near-fatal nerve agent attack last August, was detained soon after his plane landed in Moscow last Sunday.
