Police vehicle rammed

Sunshine Coast detectives have released images of a man they wish to speak with after a stolen car was used to ram a police vehicle in Nambour on the weekend.

On November 30 at around 8.20pm officers from the Criminal Investigation Branch spotted the grey Mazda sedan that had been reported stolen from Yandina travelling through Nambour CBD.

Police followed the vehicle until it entered the driveway of a residence on National Park Road.

The stolen car was then reversed twice into the stationary police vehicle, forcing officers and a passenger who fled the Mazda to take evasive action.

The force of the collision caused the police vehicle to travel back out on the road prior to coming to a stop in the front yard of another residence.

The stolen car was then driven again at police before speeding from the scene and crashing into a street sign at Sapphire Street.

The driver fled the vehicle in an unknown direction.

Both officers and the passenger sustained minor injuries. The 27-year-old male passenger is not linked to the stolen car or the offence.
