Mecca Summit: Iran-backed attacks risk regional security

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit has been held in the Saudi holy city of Mecca.

In the beginning of the session, the Saudi King addressed the Arab and Muslim leaders. King Salman repeated Riyadh’s claim, accusing Iran of supporting groups which attacked the kingdom’s oil facilities. He said the attack not only undermines the security of the kingdom and the Persian Gulf, but also threatens maritime safety and global oil supplies. Iran has rejected any involvement in the attack. The Saudi King also touched on Washington’s proposals for the Israeli- Palestinian conflict. He said the kingdom refuses any measures that would alter the historical and legal position of East Jerusalem al-Quds.
