'Ring of fire' solar eclipse dazzles in Tehran sky

People in some parts of Africa and Asia are witnessing a partial eclipse on the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere.
The phenomenon was first seen in northeastern Republic of the Congo. It then passed the Arabian Peninsula, Iran to India and southern China. Annular eclipses occur when the Moon is not quite close enough to Earth to completely obscure sunlight, leaving a thin ring of the solar disc visible. They occur every year or two, and can only been seen from a narrow pathway across the planet. Astronomers and ordinary people rush to less built-up areas to observe the phenomenon.
