They killed the animals because they believed that their ( the mother and two little bears ) blood can cure odd diseases. The slaughtered the little bears and recorded them bleed and moan to death. One of the guys is in prison and waiting for the trail and the other one ( the one with the gun belt at 1:25 mark ) is a long time felon at large. He belongs to a Kurdish tribe at the border of Iraq and Iran. That type of bear is called Persian Black bear AKA Brown Bear. The bears are highly respected by locals and they have been livign there for thousands of years.
