Inspirational video by TBK/NSAID with words from Alan Watts: The Real You. Music by Barn Owl, Temple of the Winds and background sounds of Jupiter.

Why are we living in the past or the future when neither exists? There is only right now. When you are dead you will not know it so don't be afraid to live or die. Try to imagine going to sleep and never waking up. Think about that.........

New Zealand Maori sand art

This sand art by Marcus Winter explores the maori creation story of Ranginui (the skyfather) and Papatuanuku (Earth Mother), who lived embracing each other, while there children lived between them in darkness. After a period of time, after being tired of crawling between their parents and living in darkness one of the children Tane, decided to separate his parents. He placed his feet on his father and pushed off and with his strength separated his parents from each other.

Papatuanuku, his mother became the earth, Tane Mahuta became responsible for clothing his mother with beautiful greenery after their separation. He became God of the forest and birds.

Ranginui (the sky father) would weep for his loved one from the sky with showers, one of the sons remained with his father in the sky because he did not agree with the decision to separate them, his name is Tawhiri-matea - the God of the winds and storms, he sent down storms and winds to torment his brother...

Hope you enjoyed it :)

Hey LL, my grandfather found this place years ago and used to take me up here to find beautiful old bottles in the banks of the estuary. When he died we scattered some of his ashes up here. I hadn't been back here for years so it was cool to see the place still standing. Love you Grandad xx

Police Brutality in Fiji

Amnesty International is working to verify graphic and violent video that apparently shows escaped Fijian prisoners being beaten, and is calling on the Fijian government to condemn the use of torture by officials.

O ne of men in the video is identified as Epeli Qaraniqio - one of five prisoners who escaped from a Fijian jail last year and were eventually recaptured.

The video shows him lying in the back of a ute, handcuffed and being viciously beaten by several people. At one point he is sexually assaulted.

Another man is shown being attacked by a dog on a lead, which grabs hold of his shirtsleeve and drags him along the ground.

"It appears to show sustained and horrific beatings that amount to torture of restrained men who were not resisting in any way," he says.

Mr Bayldon says Qaraniqio lost one of his legs after he was tortured.

"One of his legs was fractured as a result of the beating and was left unattended to. He didn't receive medical attention to that and eventually his leg had to be amputated as a result."

This claim was rejected by the Fijian government, who said the amputation was due to diabetes.

Mr Baylon says the current regime's history of limiting freedom of expression and controlling the media means it would be hard to have confidence in the outcome of a government-initiated inquiry.

The Fijian government never responded to Amnesty's open letter, and has not commented on the video.

Midway Island is an uninhabited island about 2000 km from any other coast line. It lies roughly equidistant between North America and Asia, and almost halfway around the world from England.
If you think that throwing away that plastic bottle or piece of rubbish, can't possibly be doing any harm, then watch this clip and think again.

These powerful, streamlined beasts can grow to more than 10 feet (3 meters) and weigh up to 220 pounds (100 kilograms). Sailfish are the fastest fish in the ocean and have been clocked leaping out of the water at more than 68 miles (110 km) per hour. Sailfish can change their colours almost instantly. They can appear in a startling array of colours, from subdued browns and grays to vibrant purples and silver. Their body colours are often highlighted by stripes of iridescent blue and silver dots.

Big-wave surfer Garrett McNamara has reportedly broken his Guinness World Record for surfing the biggest ever wave on Monday 28th January 2013.

The 44-year-old Hawaii pro surfer set the record last May after catching a 78-foot wave off the coast of Portugal.

According to reports, McNamara rode a near 100-foot (30 metre) wave at the same spot earlier this week.

Full and better video will be online soon.

Laser Communication - NASA

NASA has fired a greyscale image of the Mona Lisa to its Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, as part of an experiment using optics instead of radio for deep-space communications. As part of that effort, the space agency used a ranging laser that tracks the LRO to carry the Mona Lisa image on its 240,000 mile (386,000 km) journey

It currently takes 90 minutes to transmit high-resolution images from Mars, but
NASA would like to dramatically reduce that time to just minutes. A new optical
communications system that NASA plans to demonstrate in 2016 will lead the way
and even allow the streaming of high-definition video from distances beyond the
Moon.
"Just as the home Internet user hit the wall with dial-up, NASA is approaching
the limit of what its existing communications network can handle," he said.

The solution is to augment NASA's legacy radio-based network, which
includes a fleet of tracking and data relay satellites and a network of ground
stations, with optical systems, which could increase data rates by anywhere from
10 to 100 times.
