The emergence of a disturbing video depicting the merciless torture of a protected shark in Western Australia throws into question the integrity of the local government due to it's complete and utter lack of action. VIGILANTE fishermen in Australia are hunting, killing and even torturing sharks for sport and conservation groups say new laws allowing great white sharks to be destroyed have "demonised" all sharks and encouraged vigilantes. The video depicts a Dusky Shark lynched by a rope around its neck and left strung up with its stomach cut wide open and entrails hanging. The defenceless creature then endures endless blows to the head by its cowardly attacker with a piece of steel all the while thrashing around, still alive, in a vain attempt to escape the obvious agony. The Western Australian government are ignoring the matter, the Western Australian Police are washing their hands of it and The Department of Fisheries Western Australia are turning a blind eye. The video, along with intimidating and inflammatory comments, was posted to the wall of a Facebook page for shark conservation by a person using the Facebook profile name - PAUL SULLIVAN . Throughout the 35-second film three men can be seen tormenting and torturing the frightened kangaroo, laughing as they slap it, kick it in the head and throw it around. In August, ZACHARY HUNTER & BRETT SAUNDERS were fined $800 and placed on good behaviour bonds after pleading guilty to their part in the attack. SCOTT SAUNDERS, the brother of Brett, also pleaded guilty to his involvement and was fined $2500 and placed on a good behaviour bond. During the film, that was shot by one of the attackers on a mobile phone, SCOTT SAUNDERS is seen repeatedly hitting the frightened animal with a stick before slapping it numerous times in the head. In documents tendered to the court, one witness recalled the kangaroo looked like it "had been so traumatised it just stood there in terror". Shortly after the initial attack ZACHARY HUNTER can be seen in the video running up to the already injured joey and kicking it in the head, sending it airborne. The limp baby roo is then picked up by the tail and thrown several metres before it slams into a tree trunk. Throughout the film the three men can be heard laughing before saying they planned to drop the dead kangaroo in the middle of a street.The joey had been caught by a dog and put into the boot of a car that the Saunders brothers were travelling in. It was later taken to Lions Park in Seymour where it was brutally killed by the trio. The incident sparked widespread outrage with some animal rights' activists calling for the men to be jailed. The footage was shown by Victoria's Director of Public Prosecutions, who has launched a County Court appeal against the non-conviction sentences of the men. The landmark appeal is believed to be the first of its kind where the victim of crime is wildlife.It comes as wildlife experts say there has been a worrying spike in wildlife assaults across Victoria over the past year. Lawyers for the men this week said they had suffered harrassment and received death threats since the incident was made public. But the DPP, argued the men's sentences were "manifestly inadequate" and said tougher punishment was in the public interest. The photo attached shows dead dogs allegedly shot by Gloucester Shire Council rangers. Gloucester Shire Council went into damage control after its so-called euthanasia practices were revealed by a local pensioner, who witnessed the shootings late last month. "I was gut-wrenched, just totally shocked," the pensioner said yesterday. "I was up at the tip and the ranger came in with these dogs on board."I watched this bloke drive down the back, I heard the 'pop, pop, pop, pop' of him shooting the dogs, then he drove over to the general waste and just threw them straight off the back of his ute on to the household rubbish.
