The rebel, who goes by the nom de guerre Abu Sakkar, has filmed a YouTube video explaining his actions. "I am willing to face trial for my actions if Bashar and his shabeeha stand trial for their atrocities," he says. "My message to the world is if the bloodshed in Syria doesn't stop, all of Syria will become like Abu Sakkar." The Syrian rebel, whose real name is Khalid al-Hamad, goes on to explain that he did what he did because of atrocities committed by pro-Assad fighters. He said that evidence taken from their cell phones showed how they raped women, killed children, and tortured men. In an article published this week by TIME magazine, the rebel fighter explained that he had a sectarian hatred of Alawites, and that he had made another video where he cuts up a pro-Assad fighter's body with a saw. Abu Sakkar's actions not only created controversy among observers of the conflict, but also prompted the Syrian rebel leadership to take action. The Free Syrian Army's Military Council released a statement condemning Abu Sakkar's "monstrous act," and instructed field commanders to being an investigation "in which the perpetrator will be brought to justice." So far, however, Abu Sakkar appears to still be on the battlefield. At the end of the video, the cameraman asks him whether he will continue fighting after this controversy. "Victory or martyrdom, I will fight to the death," he replies, then walks off down the road. But when news broke that the government was using taxpayer money to bail out Wall Street banks, he started paying attention and didn't like what he was hearing. So the Florida father and information technology specialist decided to form a group, Unite in Action, to educate people in his area about the issues, he said. It was originally formed as a corporation before Devereaux decided to apply for tax-exempt status from the IRS. That was two years ago. It was never approved. "It's all but killed us," Devereaux told FoxNews.com. "We could lose everything. Today, it's me and my organization, but tomorrow it could be you." Devereaux is among a group of activists, being represented by the American Center for Law and Justice, who are preparing to sue the federal government for the practice of targeting Tea Party groups. ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow told FoxNews.com he'll likely file the civil suits next Wednesday or Thursday on behalf of more than a dozen Tea Party groups who say they were singled out by the IRS and had their tax-exempt status severely delayed or denied altogether. The suits, combined with congressional inquiries and an FBI probe, signal that the heated hearing on Capitol Hill Friday - with the outgoing IRS chief - was just the start of a protracted legal and political battle over the scandal. Sekulow said the number of plaintiffs in the civil suit are growing as is the list of who his organization wants held accountable. It's still unclear whether the organization will file as a class-action or individually in the 17 different states where the complaints originate. Litigation could take months or years and for some like Devereaux, time isn't on their side. While initially waiting for IRS approval, Devereaux dipped into his own bank account, maxed out credit cards and even borrowed money from friends so his group could put on a civic-engagement training session at the Omni Shoreham hotel in Washington. His goal was to eventually set up a steady stream of revenue for a tax-exempt nonprofit. The next time Devereaux heard from the IRS, they had requested details and credentials on every single speaker and all the educational materials provided in the 78 classes held at the hotel. The IRS also wanted information on all 45 vendors, their credentials and a donor list. Devereaux refused. Five rounds of IRS letters later, and United in Action's tax-exempt status is still in limbo. If they are denied, Devereaux's group would owe the federal government "somewhere in the neighborhood of $70,000 in back taxes," he said, referring to money he would owe the government on donations. "It's more than we have in our bank account," he said. He's not alone. Waco Tea Party President Toby Walker said her group applied for a 501(c)(4) status in July 2010. She'd call the IRS from time to time to check on the progress but was basically told, 'Don't call us, we'll call you,' she said. Then in February 2012, the IRS finally made contact. Walker said she was asked questions that went well beyond the purview of the agency's authority. They wanted to know everything about the Waco Tea Party group, their relationships with public officials, lists of volunteers and every single news story the group had ever been mentioned in. Walker said the request was so lengthy and intrusive that had she complied with the demands, she "would have needed a U-haul truck of about 20 feet." While Walker's group was finally granted tax-exempt status in March 2013, she said a lot of damage has already been done. She said people were afraid to support her group financially because they had not received the IRS-stamped status. Others were afraid that they might be targeted by the IRS if they supported Walker's group publicly. Having one of the most powerful government agencies angry at them wasn't a risk many people were willing to take. And so the group suffered, she said. "We spent thousands of our own dollars fighting this," she said. "If this happens to one organization in America, we should all be outraged." Allegations that the IRS had been targeting conservative groups that applied for tax-exempt status date back years but a government report released Wednesday backed up the claims. The White House has spent most of the week trying to contain the fallout from the scandal. "Americans are right to be angry about it, and I am angry about it," President Obama said earlier this week. It was caught on video, and it's pretty amazing! It's with some relief I can say that's not a fleet of alien spaceships bent on either enslaving the human race or possibly eating us. It's not even a swarm of meteors: what you're actually seeing there is a satellite dramatically breaking up as it re-enters the Earth's atmosphere. And it's even been identified: it was the Cygnus mass simulator, a payload lofted into space by the Antares rocket in April! That was the first successful launch of the rocket by the Orbital Sciences Corporation, placing several small satellites into orbit. Eventually, the rocket will also be equipped with a cargo delivery spacecraft called Cygnus, planned to take supplies to the space station. For the first test flight on Apr. 17, Antares carried a dummy payload with the same mass as a Cygnus to test out the rocket systems. Antares put the Cygnus dummy into a low orbit. At that altitude the atmosphere is thin, but it's there. Over time, drag affected the satellite, lowering its orbit, dropping it into thicker air, slowing and dropping it more. On Thursday night local time (Friday morning, May 10 at about 01:00 UTC), the Cygnus dummy payload dropped down enough to experience re-entry. As it slammed through the atmosphere at several thousand kilometers per hour it compressed the air in front of it, heating it up. The pressure and heat disintegrated the structure, and it fell apart, blazing across the sky. The timing, direction, and speed are all consistent with it being the Antares payload, so it looks like we can move this event from the "UFO" into the "IFO" category. I've seen hundreds of meteors, so I'm pretty familiar with what they look like. I've only witnessed a couple of satellite re-entries, and there's no mistaking the two! Meteors are moving at interplanetary speeds, and zip across the sky. Satellites are more stately, moving at a fraction of a meteor's speed, and you commonly can see the little bits and pieces burning and falling away as they go by. It's astonishing. As more private companies get into the launch game-and with everyone walking around with a private movie studio packed into their phones-we'll be seeing more video like this. The construction workers used bulldozers and diggers to claw at the sloping sides of the 100ft tall pyramid, which is part of the Nohmul complex - the most important Mayan site in northern Belize and one which dates back at least 2,300 years. Horrified archaeologists claim there is no way the builders could have mistaken the Mayan ruins for a hill, as the landscape is naturally flat and the Nohmul complex is well known. 'It's a feeling of Incredible disbelief because of the ignorance and the insensitivity ... they were using this for road fill,' Mr Awe said. 'It's like being punched in the stomach, it's just so horrendous.' Nohmul sat in the middle of a privately owned sugar cane field, and lacked the even stone sides frequently seen in reconstructed or better-preserved pyramids. Nonetheless Mr Awe is certain the builders could not have mistaken the pyramid mound for anything other than Mayan ruins. 'These guys knew that this was an ancient structure. It's just bloody laziness,' he said. The builders used backhoes to claw at the sides of the pyramid, leaving an isolated core of limestone cobbles at the centre, with what appears to be a narrow Mayan chamber dangling above one hollowed-out section. 'Just to realize that the ancient Maya acquired all this building material to erect these buildings, using nothing more than stone tools and quarried the stone, and carried this material on their heads, using tump lines,' said the archaeologist. 'To think that today we have modern equipment, that you can go and excavate in a quarry anywhere, but that this company would completely disregard that and completely destroyed this building. Why can't these people just go and quarry somewhere that has no cultural significance? It's mind-boggling.' Belizean police said they are conducting an investigation and that criminal charges may be brought against the construction company. The Nohmul complex sits on private land, but Belizean law says that any pre-Hispanic ruins are under government protection. The Belize community-action group Citizens Organized for Liberty Through Action called the destruction of the archaeological site 'an obscene example of disrespect for the environment and history'. It is not the first time it's happened in Belize, a country of about 350,000 people that is largely covered in jungle and dotted with hundreds of Mayan ruin sites - though few as large as Nohmul. Norman Hammond, an emeritus professor of archaeology at Boston University who worked in Belizean research projects in the 1980s, said it was far from the first time Mayan mounds had been targeted by construction workers seeking materials. He wrote in an email that 'bulldozing Maya mounds for road fill is an endemic problem in Belize (the whole of the San Estevan center has gone, both of the major pyramids at Louisville, other structures at Nohmul, many smaller sites), but this sounds like the biggest yet'. Arlen Chase, chairman of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Central Florida, said: 'Archaeologists are disturbed when such things occur, but there is only a very limited infrastructure in Belize that can be applied to cultural heritage management. 'Unfortunately, they (destruction of sites) are all too common, but not usually in the center of a large Maya site,' he said. He said there had probably still been much to learn from the site. 'A great deal of archaeology was undertaken at Nohmul in the `70s and `80s, but this only sampled a small part of this large center.' Belize isn't the only place where the handiwork of the far-flung and enormously prolific Maya builders is being destroyed. The ancient Mayas spread across southeastern Mexico and through Guatemala, Honduras and Belize. 'I don't think I am exaggerating if I say that every day a Maya mound is being destroyed for construction in one of the countries where the Maya lived,' wrote Francisco Estrada-Belli, a professor at Tulane University's Anthropology Department. 'Unfortunately, this destruction of our heritage is irreversible but many don't take it seriously,' he added. 'The only way to stop it is by showing that it is a major crime and people can and will go to jail for it.' Robert Rosenswig, an archaeologist at the State University of New York at Albany, described the difficult and heartbreaking work of trying to salvage information at the nearby site of San Estevan following similar destruction around 2005. 'Bulldozing damage at San Estevan is extensive and the site is littered with Classic period potsherds,' he wrote in an academic paper describing the scene. 'We spent a number of days at the beginning of the 2005 season trying to figure out the extent of the damage .... after scratching our heads for many days, a bulldozer showed up and we realized that what appear to be mounds, when overgrown with chest-high vegetation, are actually recently bulldozed garbage piles.' In mid-February, a car bomb struck the Cilvegozu Turkish/Syrian border crossing. At least eight died. Around 30 others were wounded. Anti-Assad elements blamed Syria. No evidence proved it. Turkey and Western allies blame "the usual suspects." It happens every time. Following Saturday's bombings, a State Department press release said: "The United States condemns today's car bombings and we stand with our ally, Turkey." "This awful news strikes an especially personal note for all of us given how closely we work in partnership with Turkey, and how many times Turkey's been a vital interlocutor at the center of my work as Secretary of State these last three months." "Our thoughts are with the wounded and we extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims." The glaring hypocrisy requires no comment. NATO Secretary-General Fogh Rasmussen and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius expressed "full solidarity" with Turkey. Washington's Ankara embassy condemned the "murderous attack." A statement said America "stands with the people and government of Turkey to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice." It left no ambiguity who'll be blamed. The anti-Assad Syrian National Coalition suggested Assad's involvement. A statement said: "The Coalition sees these heinous terrorist acts as an attempt to take revenge on the Turkish people and punish them for their honorable support for the Syrian people, including their welcoming of Syrian refugees who have fled the regime's crimes in their villages and cities." "The Coalition views this attack as a desperate and failed attempt to sow discord between the two peoples." Lebanon's Daily Star published an AP report. It said Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi denied Damascus' involvement in Saturday's bombings. "(N)o one has the right to make false accusations," he said. (T)his is not the behavior of the Syrian government." "The Turkish government should be held responsible for what happened. It turned the border area into a center for international terrorism." Erdogan "must step down. He must not build his glory on the blood of Turks and Syrians." Assad has no death wish. It's inconceivable that he or other Syrian officials ordered the attack. Doing so would be madness. Syria's fully involved internally. It's gone to great pains to avoid direct foreign intervention. Attacking a neighboring country would invite it. Responsibility lies with anti-Assad elements. Perhaps Ankara planned and implemented the attack. Last October, an alleged Syrian mortar attack killed five Turkish nationals. Yurt is a Turkish newspaper. At the time, it said Prime Minister Erdogan acted on Washington's behalf. His government supplied Free Syrian Army (FSA) elements with mortars. The "bomber" used to launch them "is only used by NATO." They were fired from FSA-controlled territory. False flags are commonly used. Washington prioritizes them. Turkey's complicit in plans to topple Assad. Years earlier, Turkey's military hatched a plan to bomb internal mosques, down one of its own warplanes, blame Greece, and destabilize the newly-installed Islamist government. America has a long history of false flags. So do other NATO allies and Israel. On Saturday, Lebanon's Al-Manar television said five rockets fired from inside Syria struck Lebanese territory. They "landed in open areas of the Northern Beqaa region of Hermel. No casualties have been reported." "This was not the first time (anti-Assad) militiamen rockets passed Lebanon's northern borders to target residential areas." Expect more incidents falsely blamed on Assad. Perhaps something major is planned. Doing so builds a case for war. It's happening in plain sight. On May 12, Haaretz headlined "Turkey blames Syria for deadly twin blasts; Damascus rejects 'false accusations.' " Nine arrests were made. They're Turkish citizens. Ankara claims they're Assad loyalists. Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu blamed them for an early May attack. Dozens died in Banias, Syria. Davutoglu blamed Syria for both incidents. It's clear where these accusations are heading. Washington's orchestrating everything. Turkey is its lead attack dog. It's part of Obama's scheme to topple Assad. Libya 2.0 looms. A Final Comment Conflicting reports on whether Russia plans selling Syria sophisticated air defense systems surfaced. Washington and Israel expressed concern. Kerry discussed it in Moscow. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov denied intentions to do so. S-300 launch systems and others were mentioned. Lavrov added that Russia and Syria have weapons deals yet to be completed. Vladimir Putin said existing contracts will be honored. He and others added that weapons supplied are defensive. Netanyahu's going to Moscow. He plans doing so soon. He'll urge Putin against supplying Syria with launch systems able to take out invading aircraft. He's doing so in the context of Israel's recent attacks. Lebanon's Daily Star suggested they were launched from inside Lebanese territory. On May 11, Mossad-connected DEBKAfile (DF) headlined "Netanyahu to visit Putin in a bid to stop his S-300 missile sale to Syria." It's a "last-ditched attempt" to call it off. DF claims doing so is "extremely slim." "After Israel's (May 4 and 5 air strikes), nothing would now stop the S-300 deliveries." Putin is "placing a severe constraint on Israel's operational freedom by spreading an anti-air missile cover over the Syrian, Hizballah and the Iranian Basij forces fighting for Bashar Assad." "Since the chances of dissuading Putin to abandon this strategy are just about nil, the best Netanyahu can hope for by his face-to-face with the Russian president is a limited accord on ground rules for averting an Israeli-Russian military clash in Syria." Whether this suggests Russia will back Syria if US-led NATO intervenes remains to be seen. Covert (Western) special forces and military advisers have also integrated their ranks. Confirmed by CNN, the Al Nusra terrorists have also been trained in the use of chemical weapons by special forces on contract to the Pentagon: The training , which is taking place in Jordan and Turkey, involves how to monitor and secure stockpiles and handle weapons sites and materials, according to the sources. Some of the contractors are on the ground in Syria working with the rebels to monitor some of the sites, according to one of the officials. The nationality of the trainers was not disclosed, though the officials cautioned against assuming all are American. (CNN, December 09, 2012, emphasis added And once these Al Qaeda rebels had been supplied and trained in the use of WMDs by military contractors hired by the Pentagon, the Syrian government would then be held responsible for using the WMD against the Syrian people. Ironically, while the Al Nusra terrorists are directly supported and financed by the Pentagon, they are on the State Department's list of terrorist organizations. Secretary of State John Kerry's recent initiatives have largely been instrumental in increasing the flow of money and military support to the terrorists under the disguise of "humanitarian aid". Political Turnaround The UN Security Council is slated to add the al-Nusra Front to its sanctions blacklist. Ironically this initiative comes "as the Syrian government asked the Security Council to blacklist al-Nusra last month, but the request was blocked by Britain and France." (Press TV, May 11, 2013). Now that Al Nusra, an entity created and sponsored by Western intelligence, is being decimated by the Syrian Armed Forces, the US and its allies are calling for the channeling of weapons and financial support to the more moderate "non-Islamist" rebel factions. France's Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has called on the UN to classify Syria's al-Nusra Front as a terrorist organisation "in order to differentiate the Islamist group from other opposition forces" French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius pressed the United Nations on Thursday to blacklist Syria's al-Nusra Front as a terrorist organisation, in an effort to set the militant Islamist group apart from other more moderate opposition forces in the country. "In order to avoid any ambiguity, we suggest that the al-Nusra Front, which is opposed to Bashar al-Assad but is also a branch of al Qaeda, be classified as a 'terrorist organisation on the UN level, the French foreign minister stated in an interview with French daily Le Monde. Fabius also said that France wanted to increase its support of Syria's opposition organisation, the Syrian National Coalition, highlighting that it needed to "grow, unify and clearly guarantee that the rights of all communities be respected in the event of a regime change". What these developments suggest is that Al Nusra rebels are cannon fodder. They are no longer supported and upheld as freedom fighters. Washington in consultation with its Western allies has decided to sacrifice its Al Qaeda affiliated foot-soldiers who are now being decimated by the Syrian army. While Britain and France had blocked Syria's earlier initiative to include Al Nusra on the United Nations Security Council terrorist list, the initiative is now emanating not from Syria but from those countries, which until recently were providing the Al Nusra front, with money and weapons. Moreover, Washington's direct financial support to Al Nusra, brokered by Obama's new Secretary of State John Kerry, has become, to say the least, the source of diplomatic embarrassment. In this regard, it is worth noting that an American citizen who is indirectly suspected, with or without evidence, of supporting an Al Qaeda affiliated entity would immediately be arrested, with of course the exception of Secretary of the State John Kerry, among other senior US officials, who are supporting Al Qaeda units on behalf of the US government.
