NEW YORK - Jackhammers are digging under a New York City house once occupied by a famous gangster who is said to have buried victims in familiar places.

The digging started Monday in Queens' South Ozone neighborhood. It was home to James Burke, a Lucchese crime family associate known as "Jimmy the Gent."

A character based on Burke was played by Robert De Niro in the movie "Goodfellas."

Burke died behind bars in 1996, two decades after authorities say he masterminded a nearly $6 million robbery at New York's Kennedy Airport.

The Queens house is still owned by the Burke family, but others now live there.

An FBI spokesman confirmed agents were investigating but gave no details.

Burke owned a Queens saloon that fellow mobster Henry Hill described as Burke's private cemetery.

RICK PERRY TO MEET, RECRUIT CT AND NY GUN MANUFACTURERS TO TEXAS

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) will be in Connecticut June 17 to meet with firearm manufacturers who find their businesses penalized and hampered by the new gun control laws enacted by Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy (D) on April 4 .Perry will also meet with some firearm manufactures in New York whose businesses face new regulations under the gun control laws Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) signed in January.

Connecticut-based firearm companies include Colt, Ruger, Mossberg, and Stag Arms. Of these, Mossberg already sent a letter to Connecticut Gov. Malloy, voicing their disapproval of the anti-gun climate in the state.

In the letter , Mossberg VP Joseph H. Bartozzi indicated the company does not appreciate the way Malloy bad mouths the gun industry, and he made it clear that the new gun control legislation makes Connecticut a tougher state to do business in:

At a time when we are facing product boycotts simply because we have a manufacturing presence in Connecticut, I would respectfully ask that you carefully consider the affect that your words have both within and outside this state. At a time when we are being encouraged to move our manufacturing facility to one of several states, your words make us feel most unwelcomed. In a state where our company has been providing good, well-paying jobs for over nine decades, your words make us feel decidedly unappreciated.

Gov. Perry will be in Connecticut next Monday to let Mossberg know Texas appreciates them--and that Texas has lower taxes, less regulation, and a thriving economy to grow their business in.

His trip will be complimented by a $1 million television ad campaign in which Perry says , "Texas is calling. Your opportunity awaits."

Man Arrested Over Reply To Speeding Ticket: 'Fuck Your Shitty Town'

Last year, Willian Barboza was caught speeding in the Village of Liberty in upstate New York, but he ended up arrested after he mailed in his fine with a note reading, "Fuck your shitty town, bitches." Now the case is developing into a First Amendment lawsuit.

The Capitol Confidential reports that the 22-year-old was ticketed back in May 2012, and Barboza pleaded guilty, mailing in his fine with a note. Barboza crossed out the town's name 'Liberty' and wrote in 'Tyranny' instead, then cussed out the people who ticketed him.

The county government replied to Barboza's message telling him they rejected his payment, and that he would be ordered to appear in court in Liberty, two hours from his home in Connecticut.P

When Barboza showed up, the judge lectured him about using foul language, and then had him arrested for "aggravated harassment." The New York Times reports that they handcuffed him in the courtroom, booked him, fingerprinted him, and held him for four or five hours before he posted a $200 bail.

Several months later, another judge dropped the charges. Now, though, the NYCLU is suing on behalf of Barboza in federal court for damages, as well as to have the statute that allowed Barboza's arrest struck from the books.

The statute of "aggravated harassment" states that it is a misdemeanor to act "with intent to harass, annoy, threaten or alarm" someone "anonymously or otherwise, by telephone, be telegraph, or by mail, or by transmitting or delivering any other form of written communication, in a manner likely to cause annoyance or alarm."

The NYCLU thinks this is unconstitutional. The lead council on the case said in a statement, "Not liking someone's speech isn't a reason to arrest them. You cannot be arrested and prosecuted for writing a note of displeasure on a traffic ticket. As long as you are not threatening anyone, public officials have to put up with offensive language."

After responding to a burglar alarm in New Rochelle, NY police found the suspect hiding in the homeowners' clothes dryer. The alleged burglar, 19-year-old Gabriel Perez-Majia, allegedly climbed into the dryer while trying to hide. His hidey hole was quickly discovered due to a blood trail he left after injuring himself breaking in through a window. Perez-Majia was sniffed out by a dog named Tank, while a stash of jewelry and electronics was discovered nearby.

http://www.barenakedislam.com/2013/06/12/obamas-war-against-the-nypds-successful-counter-terrorism-tactics/

Obama's war against the NYPD's successful counter-terrorism tactics

In a stunning move, (no doubt in part instigated by terror-linked CAIR) the Obama Administration has thrust itself into the middle of the explosive federal stop-and-frisk trial and is taking sides against the NYPD, raising the odds of a outside monitor being appointed to oversee the controversial highly successful crime/terror-fighting program.

NY POST "This is very bad news," said one City Hall source. The source said that Attorney General Eric Holder's office notified the city that it intends to file briefs in support of claims by the Center for Constitutional Rights that cops are stopping suspects on the basis of race (and religion?).

Ten weeks of testimony in the case concluded last month. But the federal government has the right to intervene in any federal case and Holder's office will do so before the end of the day, the last day for filing briefs, the source said.
The presiding judge, Shira Schiendlin, has yet to issue a ruling, (yet she has shown throughout her career to repeatedly come down on the side of the suspect against the NYPD)
City officials feel privately that the NYPD held its own during the trial, leading to the hope that the judge would stop short of naming a monitor. "This gives her the cover to do that," said one concerned source.

Wall St. Journal The mayor has joined Mr. Kelly in criticizing a recent proposal from Democratic mayoral front-runner Christine Quinn to create a new inspector general to oversee the NYPD. The department is already overseen by two independent city agencies, plus the five district attorneys and two U.S. attorneys based in New York City. If police can't do stops, he says, "you'd need another 50,000 cops" to protect the city, says Kelly.
Mr. Kelly's tenure has also been marked by the lack of a successful terror attack. The NYPD's 1,000-strong counterterrorism force works closely with Washington, and Mr. Kelly is concerned about a possible lowering of the federal guard.

"If you look at the latest National Intelligence Estimate," he says, the Central Intelligence Agency and the Department of Defense "are sort of now downplaying the threat of terrorism. . . . They look back historically, 'Hey look how few really big events we've had.' Meantime, I see New York City differently. We've had 16 plots against the city."
One recent example: Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, who "thought he was blowing up the Federal Reserve Bank" of New York as part of an FBI sting operation, the commissioner says. "He goes to the New York Stock Exchange, sees the police that we have there and he decides he can't do it. Too much security." So the suspect instead parked what he thought was a van full of explosives in front of the Fed and tried to detonate it from a distance with a cellphone.

"There are other investigations of young (Muslim) people like this that are ongoing right now," says Mr. Kelly. "We see ourselves as the number one target and we have this stream of young (Muslim) men who want to come here and kill us."

Media reports have suggested that his department unfairly monitors the Muslim community-the Associated Press ran a Pulitzer Prize-winning series on that score in 2011. Asked what he has changed about the NYPD's surveillance methods in the wake of those stories, Mr. Kelly says: "Nothing."
An old judicial consent decree, modified after 9/11, lays out exactly what the police are allowed to do in gathering public information that may help prevent terrorism, he says. The department follows these rules. Next question.

So much for journalists and their 1st Amendment rights -- Rep. Peter King: Punish journalists who report classified information :

Representative Peter King (R-NY) on Tuesday night said
that journalists who revealed secret government programs should face
criminal charges.
Discussing the recent news about the National Security Agency, CNN's
Anderson Cooper asked the Republican if he believed journalists should
be punished for reporting on leaked information.
"Actually, if they willing knew that this was classified information,
I think action should be taken, especially on something of this
magnitude," King responded. "I know that the whole issue of leaks has
been gone into over the last month. I think something on this magnitude,
there is an obligation, both moral but also legal, I believe, against a
reporter disclosing something which would so severely compromise
national security."
"As a practical matter, I guess there have been in the past several
years, a number of reporters who have been prosecuted under it," he
added. "So the answer is yes to your question."
Tough talk from a guy who liked 'palling around with terrorists' not so long ago.

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) - A bill currently making its way through the
State Legislature would make it a crime to annoy a police officer, a
move that could have far reaching consequences.

The State Senate passed the bill Wednesday that makes it felony to "harass, annoy,
threaten or alarm" an on duty police officer by subjecting them to any
physical contact.

A press release from the NYS Senate originally
stated, "The bill (S.2402), sponsored by Senator Joe Griffo (R-C-I,
Rome) would make it a felony to harass, annoy, or threaten a police
officer while on duty." However, as the bill is written, a person would
be guilty of aggravated harassment of a police officer if he or she
subjected that officer to physical contact with the intent to "harass,
annoy, threaten or alarm" that officer.

The bill was sponsored by local Senators Pat Gallivan, George Maziarz and Michael Ranzenhofer, as well as Senator Joe Griffo (R) of Rome.

I was very lucky to come to USA and see this place. My breasts were freezing and I did not kno it would be so cold there in May. Anyway, I shot some pics with my Canon 1DX... :)
The mist was blowing so fast and cold that it is hard to breathe when standing over the falls. Really amazing. Just sharing...

The Police State of New York Police State

"Grab that damn camera, they caught us"
Besides the otherwise lame attempt to justify a bill that in essence gives police free rein to claim physical annoyance, there is no actual explanation given for creating such a bill.

If signed into law, offenders would be subjected to the same penalties as other class E felonies like " placing a false bomb or hazardous substance " in a public place, and " riot in the first degree. " This is the lowest felony charge in New York, but can still carry a penalty of up to 4 years imprisonment , depending on the judge's decision.

Given the fact that police almost universally disapprove of those who dare film them, little effort is needed to imagine them citing the bill's content as justification for their arrest of citizen journalists like We Are Change's Luke Rudkowski, who routinely gets into confrontations with police, or our own intrepid Infowars reporter Dan Bidondi, who it could be argued "harassed" authorities at the Boston Marathon press conferences when they had to physically touch him.

In addition, the bill virtually welcomes and protects police who would provoke citizens into any kind of spat, as, under the vague language of the bill, any physical "harassment" can be deemed unlawful.

RT also noted how questionable laws were increasingly being cited by police in their own defense, noting the example of New York homeowner Emily Good, who was arrested by police in Rochester "while standing in her yard and videotaping police officers who were performing a traffic stop in front of her house."

"When Good insisted on her right to stand in her yard, she was arrested, handcuffed, and taken away in a police car. She was later charged with obstructing governmental administration." Police told Good they didn't feel safe with her standing behind them recording.

Recently we also witnessed a 14-year-old in Florida get slammed to the ground and put in a choke hold for what amounted to little more than throwing police "dehumanizing stares."

In essence, the bill, if passed, would allow police to arrest according to their own subjective impulses. Source : http://www.infowars.com/ny-senate-passes-bill-that-would-make-annoying-a-cop-a-felony/

A Muslim cab driver was sentenced to three years in prison today for recklessly ramming his taxi into two passengers as they insisted he had to drive them from Midtown to The Bronx. In begging unsuccessfully for a no-jail sentence, Mohammed Azam, 29, described himself as an "upstanding Muslim immigrant who'd come to America in pursuit of the American dream." NY Post (h/t Jesse P) "I am asking for mercy, your honor," Azam pleaded, his voice quavering. But the judge noted that Azam had lied on the stand when he claimed, among other things, that he believed victim Anthony Loreto was well enough to stand right up again after suffering multiple, life-threatening head fractures."In a fit of pique, Mr. Azam, you significantly diminished the quality of this young man's life," Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Daniel FitzGerald said.Defense lawyer Gary Sunden had cited Azam's regret and hard work ethic as a medical student in asking for leniency. A jury had acquitted Azam in early May of far more serious charges, including attempted murder, the lawyer noted. But Azam still left Loreto to die on the pavement of West 54th Street, and then blatantly lied about believing the bleeding and seizing man had stood up and moved toward the taxi again, said prosecutor Gregory SanGermano. As a med student, "He was in the position better than anyone else to get him medical treatment" and to recognize the seriousness of his injuries, the ADA said. "He didn't even make an anonymous 911 call," the prosecutor said.
