Pakistan Post-poll Scene: Power
struggle resumes! By DR. ABDUL RUFF COLACHAL

Global
anti-Islamic media networks have about new democratic horizon in
Pakistan with the recent poll. All that they want is safe sanctuary for
NATO terror syndicates in that Islamic nation to serve the anti-Islam
cause of western powers. .
However, world
expects Pakistan leaders Sharif and Zardari be different this time for the sake of Pakistan and
Muslims.

But
power struggle seems to have resumed between top political parties, PPP and MLNs
and could cause immense damage to the general health of an already destabilized
Pakistan and its people besieged by NATO terror infrastructure.

Having
lost the elections to his arch rival
Sharif, President Asif Zardari whose Peoples' Party has lost the polls
is busy making quick appointments to key posts. Lately, Wazir Ali Khoja was
removed from his post of Chairman and Managing Director National Investment
Trust (NIT). Before his dismissal the government had removed three heads of
public sector organizations: Arif
Hameed, MD, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL); Zuhair Siddiqui, MD Sui
Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and retired Brigadier Khalid Khokhar, MD Pakistan
Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC).

Many
political parties have been talking about pre-poll and during the poll rigging
but none have raised voice against such terminations.

Muslim
League is yet to assume power and the power has not been transferred to newly
elected members, elected members have not taken oath and even the names of new
prime minister and finance minister have not been announced officially but
posting and transfers are being made.

The
PML-N wonders what is forcing the interim government to take important
decisions while the new set-up is going to change within 10 days.

PML-N
leader Shahbaz Sharif has warned the caretaker prime minister not to make
appointments to certain key posts at the behest of President Asif Zardari whose
Peoples' Party has lost the polls. . Sharif has told him to respect the people's mandate
as he was legally, morally and politically obliged to respect this mandate and
warned of a stern stance if the caretakers did not change their attitude. ,

MQM
has announced to boycott the re-poll in NA-250. MQM's senior leader Raza Haroon
said that efforts were made to snatch the party's mandate in Karachi. The ECP
on Friday rejected the MQM petition which sought re-polling in the entire
NA-250 constituency of Karachi. The ECP declared that re-polling would only be
held in 43 polling stations of NA-250 out of total 180 polling stations where
allegedly polling was not held or delayed these stations on 11th May.

It
is said that appointment of professionals as heads of public sector enterprises
was aimed at improving performance of these entities. However, often these
heads are appointed to serve the political agenda of appointing authorities. The
key items on agenda include paving way for appointment of party activists; allocating advertisements to favorite media
houses and above all siphoning of funds by granting contracts to favorite entities.

The public sector enterprises that have been ruined include PIA, Pakistan
Steel, and electricity generation and distribution companies. Entities that
have been used to generate funds to meet shortfall in revenue collection are
OGDC, PPL, PSO and Sui twins.

If however such moves are being made at the federal level one just can't rule
out such violations at the provincial levels.

In
a surprising development, the lawyer who had filed a petition in the judges'
detention case has withdrawn his complaint against former president retired Gen
Pervez Musharraf. The decision by Advocate Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam Ghumman came
a day before the hearing of the case by the Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court at
former president Pervez Musharraf's Chak Shahzad farmhouse which has been
declared a sub-jail.

Interestingly
nepotism, corruption and violation of good governance continued during the PPP
led government despite the fact that Chaudhry Nisar Ali belonging to PML-N
occupies the top slot of Chairman Public Accounts Committee.

Therefore,
it may not be wrong to say that political parties criticize each other but have
common motives. Surplus staff of PIA and Pakistan Steel just can't be removed
because activists of many political parties are there that follow the rule 'I
scratch you back and you scratch my back'.

Almost
all the political parties, PML-N being on the top, were accusing PPP-lead
coalition of posting the favorites, but dismissal of those even before assuming
charge creates even worst examples of nepotism by PML-N. There were complaints
that PML-N that ruled Punjab for five years, kept the favorites in key position
during the interim set up to influence polling results.

Undoubtedly,
political parties play 'musical chair game', let their favorites plunder and
the next government allows them to go home without any accountability. Loyalties
of turncoats are bought so that they could also help the new bosses in
siphoning out funds of the public sector enterprises (PSEs). It is on record
that annually PSEs swallow around half a trillion rupees of tax payers' money.
A cynic commenting on metro bus project of PML-N said, 'it was only to
facilitate Ittefaq Steel (own by Sharif family) to sell its products'.

It
is only half truth because the project serves residents of Lahore only, whereas
the condition of public transport throughout Punjab remains pathetic.

Pakistan politicians do not worry about the nation
or people because they know the all powerful CIA-Pentagon has taken almost full
charge of Pakistan and is controlling the leaders as well.

It is the common notion among Pakistani elites
that Pakistan regime by puppet Zardari cannot be expected to do anything to end
NATO occupation of Pakistan.

With
the dramatic arrival of former General P Musharraf it was expected that there
could be serious fight between military and political parties but now with Musharraf
in jail, the leading political parties have resumed their historic or traditional
power struggle to push in their own private profit agenda rather than Pakistan's
general good. .

One
completely fails to understand that even after so much destruction in the
country and genocides of Pakistanis, the politicians behave like US stooges.

You
call it crude fate of Islamic Pakistan?

Or,
maybe, something else?

Rebels and army clash in DR Congo's Goma

Congolese soldiers have clashed with rebel fighters for the first time in nearly six months near the city of Goma, just days before Ban Ki-moon, UN secretary-general, is due to visit the eastern city.

Fighting began in the early morning of Monday after the M23 rebel group, formed by army mutineers, attacked Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) government positions about 10km north of the mineral-rich city, a government military spokesman told the Reuters news agency.

"The fighting has been with heavy weapons. It's still continuing although it is less intense ... We're sending reinforcements. We must protect the town of Goma at all costs," Colonel Olivier Hamuli said.

There was no confirmation on casualty figures from the clashes, which came a week after the first troops from a new UN intervention brigade arrived in the country with a strong mandate to attack rebel groups.

The M23 seized and briefly held Goma, largest city in eastern DRC last November despite the presence of thousands of UN soldiers.

A rebel spokesman Amani Kabasha said that the M23 had initially driven off an attack by the Rwandan Hutu rebels of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), before coming under attack from government artillery.

"We are not responding to their shelling, but what we're hearing is not good, that (Congolese president Joseph) Kabila is sending reinforcements. He needs to calm down," Kabasha said.

Major Vincent Tourny, an interim spokesman for MONUSCO, the UN peacekeeping mission in the DRC, said that the Mutaho region was attacked in the early morning by the M23 rebels targeting the Congolese army.

Government troops were driven back, but managed to recover their positions, and by 10:00am local time, shooting became "intermittent" in the area, Tourny said, adding that "800 civilians have fled towards Goma".

Ban is due to arrive in Goma this week as part of a visit with the president of the World Bank, aiming to draw attention to the conflict in the country, where millions have died during nearly two decades of violence.

MULTIVERSE DISCOVERY - First solid proof of other universes besides ours

The first 'hard evidence' that other universes exist has been found by scientists.

Cosmologists studying a map of the universe from data gathered by the Planck spacecraft have concluded that it shows anomalies that can only have been caused by the gravitational pull of other universes.

The map shows radiation from the Big Bang 13.8billion years ago that is still detectable in the universe - known as cosmic microwave radiation.

Scientists had predicted that it should be evenly distributed, but the map shows a stronger concentration in the south half of the sky and a 'cold spot' that cannot be explained by current understanding of physics.

Laura Mersini-Houghton, theoretical physicist at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Richard Holman, professor at Carnegie Mellon University, predicted that anomalies in radiation existed and were caused by the pull from other universes in 2005.

Now that she has studied the Planck data, Dr Mersini-Houghton believes her hypothesis has been proven.

Her findings imply there could be an infinite number of universes outside of our own.
She said: 'These anomalies were caused by other universes pulling on our universe as it formed during the Big Bang.

'They are the first hard evidence for the existence of other universes that we have seen.'

Although some scientists remain sceptical about the theory of other universes, these findings may be a step towards changing views on physics.

The European Space Agency, which runs the lb515million Planck telescope, said: 'Because precision of Planck's map is so high, it made it possible to reveal some peculiar unexplained features that may well require new physics to be understood.'

Cambridge professor of theoretical physics Malcolm Perry told the Sunday Times that the findings could be real evidence of the existence of other universes.

While George Efstathiou, professor of astrophysics at the university, told the newspaper: 'Such ideas may sound wacky now, just like the Big Bang theory did three generations ago. But then we got evidence and now it has changed the whole way we think about the universe.'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2326869/Is-universe-merely-billions-Evidence-existence-multiverse-revealed-time-cosmic-map.html

The Planck map of the CMBE shows the cold spot that could not be explained by modern physics, at least until now.

Laura Mersini-Houghton, theoretical physicist at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Richard Holman, professor at Carnegie Mellon University, both theorized in 2005 these anomalies could be caused by the pull of other universes outside our own.

However, these notions were mostly speculation until recently when new data from the Planck Telescope provided a much more detailed map of the radiation.

Now the pair believes the data provides the first solid proof of multiverse theory.

To date, their hypothesis is the only one that can explain the stronger radiation in the south and the cold spot in that hemisphere.

Multiverse theory, if true, could explain a number of things including what caused the big bang that created the universe, what existed before the big bang, and why it is the universe appears precisely tuned to host human life, at least on planet Earth.

Man sentenced in N.C. plot to behead terror witness

A North Carolina man was sentenced Friday to four life terms for plotting to behead federal witnesses whose testimony helped convict him for his role in an earlier plot to slaughter U.S. servicemen and their families.
Hysen Sherifi, 29, was one of six Raleigh-area Muslims convicted in 2011 of planning to attack the Marine base in Quantico, Va., and overseas targets.

Shortly after starting his 45-year prison sentence in the terror case, Sherifi approached another inmate to help him hire a hit man to behead government informants and FBI agents. He recruited his younger brother Shkumbin Sherifi, 23, and former special education teacher Nevine Aly Elshiekh, 48, to help pay the hit man and organize the murders.

But the inmate whose help Sherifi sought turned out to be yet another government informant. FBI agents then staged an elaborate sting that involved secretly videotaped meetings with a woman posing as the go-between for a fictional hit man named Treetop and doctored photos that appeared to show the corpse of a beheaded witness in a shallow grave.

Federal prosecutors recommended leniency for the two coconspirators, who pleaded guilty last year and agreed to testify at the elder Sherifi's trial on nine felony counts.

Citing their extensive cooperation, U.S. District Senior Judge Earl sentenced the younger Sherifi to 3 years in prison, while Elshiekh got 3 1/2 years. They had faced as much as 10 years each.

Before Hysen Sherifi was sentenced, he lectured the judge about Islamic teachings.

"The Koran is the truth that invalidates all other religions," said Sherifi, who declined a court-appointed lawyer and represented himself at trial. "If you do not submit, he will severely judge you, and on the day of judgment you will enter hellfire."

"That it?" asked Britt, who has served more than three decades on the federal bench. The judge then tacked the four life sentences onto the end of Sherifi's earlier 45-year prison term, along with another 50 years on top of that.

"There can be no doubt Mr. Sherifi, the defendant in this case, meets the definition of a terrorist," Britt said. "He was the genesis of this conspiracy. He was the mastermind, though I'm hesitant to use that term because it affords him more credit than he is due."

Noting that the defendant was unsuccessful in killing anyone, Britt said Sherifi's worst transgression was destroying the lives of his little brother Shkumbin and Elshiekh, with whom he had carried on a romantic dalliance from behind bars.

Elshiekh, a U.S. citizen whose parents emigrated from Egypt, was a respected teacher of special-needs children who was also active as a youth leader at her Raleigh mosque.

According to court testimony, she had just undergone a painful divorce from a cheating husband when she began attending Sherifi's 2011 terrorism trial. She later began visiting him regularly in jail.

Dr. Emily Keram, a forensic psychiatrist hired by the defense, testified that Elshiekh was molested as a child by an uncle in Egypt and then trapped in an arranged marriage to a "con man" who later abandoned her to marry another woman.

Elshiekh was prescribed several psychiatric drugs that impaired her ability to reason and made her pliable to the will of others, the psychiatrist said.

At Hysen Sherifi's direction, Elshiekh gave a collection of gold jewelry given to her by her ex-husband to the younger brother, who pawned the pieces to raise the $5,000 he believed was needed to hire the hit man to execute the first victim.

Elshiekh claimed she had no idea what the money was for until she followed her paramour's direction to meet with a woman in a parked car. The woman, an informant for the FBI, showed Elshiekh a photo of one of the targeted witnesses and asked her to confirm that was the first man to be killed.

Though she then knew what the money was for, Elshiekh continued on with the plot for another 20 days until her arrest.

In her early court appearances, Elshiekh wore a headscarf and a black dress that fully covered her arms and legs. On Friday, her long hair trailed down her back and she wore western clothes.

In a tearful apology before the court on Friday, she accepted responsibility for what she had done.

"I wish I could turn back time, but I can't do that," she told the judge. "I never wanted anyone to get hurt."

Wearing shackles and a black Chicago T-shirt, Shkumbin Sherifi declined to address the judge before sentencing.

The Sherifis are ethnic Albanians who fled Kosovo in 1999 during a brutal sectarian war with Serbs and ended up as refugees in Raleigh. Though Hysen gravitated toward a militant strain of Islam, his younger siblings acclimated more readily to life in America. Shkumbin went so far as to record an amateur rap album.

Among those testifying Friday was one of the government witnesses Hysen Sherifi wanted dead. Melvin Weeks was a U.S. Army soldier serving in Kosovo after the war when he met the older Sherifi, who was visiting his grandparents.

Weeks, a Muslim, said Sherifi praised Osama bin Laden and showed him jihadist videos that included a hostage being beheaded. Though an American bombing campaign had saved the ethnic Albanians from genocide just a few years earlier, Weeks said Sherifi called for holy war against the very nation that gave his family a new home.

"In my opinion, he is a devil manifested here on Earth, walking among us," the former soldier said.

Humanity
seeks a secured world free from nukes and wars. But big powers and
their traditonal military n and space rivalries dney the pople of
globe real chances for safety and security.

Although it criticizes Iran and North Korea on
their legitimate nuke projects, USA is not at all serious about denuclearization
and disarmament. Washington stalls al serious attempts by global nations
to create a world free of nukes.

American opposition and lack of commitment to
various international disarmament conventions are obstacles to advancing the
issue of global disarmament.

To put it aptly, the US opposition to the
protocol to the Biological Weapons Convention, its non-adherence to its
commitments under the Chemical Weapons Convention to eliminate its arsenal by
2012, and efforts to prevent global denuclearization as well as a nuclear-free
Middle East are all part of Washington's black record of non-compliance with
international obligations and disrespect for international mechanisms on global
disarmament and security.

The USA has, for all practical purposes, taken
the UN Disarmament Conference hostage and is hindering its effective
performance in advancing international peace and security. For years now, the USA is opposed to bringing
up the issue of disarmament in the UN Disarmament Conference

Refusal by USA to denuclearize Israel clearly
shows its own mindset to retain have nuke regime intact.

But the efforts by USA-Israel twins to project
Iran as a rogue state are motivated and hence do hold water.

Iran is among the first founders of the UN
Disarmament Conference and, Iran says, has always played an instrumental and
constructive role in advancing the objectives of the conference, in particular
that of nuclear disarmament. Iran has also played a key role in negotiations on
international treaties, including the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Iran
proposed the idea of a nuke-free Middle East and is among the flag-bearers of
nuclear disarmament. Describing Iran as a victim of weapons of mass destruction
(WMDs), the Iranian spokesman said the Islamic Republic of Iran along with
other peace-loving nations of the world will continue to tap into all national
and international potential to contribute to the creation of a WMD-free world.

The
recent remarks by US President B Obama and UK Premier David Cameron about
continuing pressure on Iran are discouraging and indicate the lack of a
realistic view and the right understanding of reality by those who advocate
these pressures. Iran said the policy of pressure had never been effective,
adding that purposeful negotiations made with goodwill were the only way to
achieve a solution to the Western standoff over Tehran's nuclear energy
program.

Iran's
Foreign Ministry condemned Canada regime for joining anti-Iran rogue states bandwagon
led by USA-Israel twins and also condemned the recent remarks by Canadian
Foreign Minister John Baird and the holding of an anti-Iran conference in
Canada as flagrant interference in the Islamic Republic of Iran's internal
affairs.

Canada's
blame-game in the foreign policy arena, particularly with respect to the
Islamic Republic of Iran, will not be able to divert public attention either
inside or outside Canada from issues such as the election fraud known as the
Robocalls scandal, which brought the current Canadian government to power, or
the blatant and systematic violation of human rights in Canada. People around
the world have learned about the massive racial discrimination, child
trafficking and sex abuse, biased regulations for aborigines and minorities,
growing poverty and unemployment among immigrants, racism and xenophobia in
Canada, which were all reported by the UN official sources as well as Canada's
non-government organizations. The international community is concerned about
democracy and the human rights situation in Canada

The
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman further welcomed Egypt's proposal on forming
a quartet on Syria and voiced the Islamic Republic's readiness to help resolve
the crisis in the Arab country.

AN IMAM says police and social workers who tip-toe around the issue of Muslim sex grooming gangs should be sacked.Seven members of a child sex ring from Oxford were convicted this week of forcing teenagers into acts of "extreme depravity".

Their victims, aged 11 to 15, were plied with drugs before being raped and "sold" to others for sex over an eight-year period.

Other grooming rings have been exposed in Rochdale, Rotherham, Derby and Telford.

But Taj Hargey, Imam of the Oxford Islamic Congregation, said: "What we have is white liberal cowardice and Muslims burying their heads in the sand.

"These men were not Sikhs, they were not Hindus. Why are we so shy to say that they were Muslims? We need to identify this problem publicly. People in positions of responsibility who refuse should be sacked. We should not be hiding behind political correctness."

Dr Hargey blamed preachers who portray white women, with their "revealing clothes and liking of alcohol", as inferior.

He called for a drive to stop the gangs, but said: "How is refusing to talk about it going to resolve this terrible situation?"

He speaks a lot of sense, shame our establishment don't
