This is from a band still polishing its debut album even while getting ready for a summer tour that will help raise money for wounded veterans. "It's all kind of crazy," says drummer Mike Marx-Gibbons, a sergeant in the Maryland Army National Guard, who describes the band's sound as "the ugly baby of Coldplay and Linkin Park." He joined the Army on Sept. 12, 2001, and spent 16 months in Iraq pulling convoy security duty as a medic just after the invasion. Guitarist Josh Jones and DJ Danny Espinosa were football players at the Coast Guard Academy. Although both dropped out before receiving their commissions, they ended up serving in other ways - as contractors in Afghanistan with special ops and counternarcotics units, operating mostly out of Kabul. For the "Fight or Flight" video, the band shot at multiple locations around Fort Irwin, including Painted Rocks, where every training rotation leaves its mark with unit patches painted on massive desert boulders. Combat scenes were shot at "Ertebat Shar," NTC's mock Afghanistan village. The soldiers featured in the video are members the National Training Center's 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. Set for release May 14, the "Fight or Flight" video was directed and produced by former Army reservist Karen Kraft and Alison Savitch, an award-winning visual effects supervisor and film producer whose credits include "Mortal Kombat," "The Abyss" and "Terminator 2." The two-day shoot at NTC was Marx-Gibbons' first time at Fort Irwin. "But I had heard the horror stories," he says. "So I showed up there to do the video a little on edge wondering if I'm going to get locked up by whatever NCO or officer walks by." Two men and a woman packed pizza and beer aboard a luxury sailboat in a Sausalito marina, stole it in the middle of the night and made it as far as Pacifica before the vessel ran aground 20 yards off a beach Monday, authorities said. The three then spent hours being tossed about in the waves in the 82-foot Darling as authorities, alerted to the theft by a man who recognized his boat on the TV news, waited with guns drawn on Linda Mar Beach. The three suspects - Leslie Gardner , 63, Dario Mira , 54, and Lisa Modawell , 56 - were pulled off the boat onto personal watercraft by San Mateo County sheriff's deputies about noon and handed over to Pacifica police, who booked them on suspicion of grand theft and conspiracy. When authorities boarded the Darling, they found cases of pale ale and a pizza box, said Jeff Wadkins , a state parks lifeguard and park ranger who was one of those to scour the vessel. "There looks like there was quite a bit of alcohol drinking onboard," he said. The contents of the boat were in disarray, apparently because of the rough surf, Wadkins said, and the three suspects showed signs of seasickness. One of the men limped as authorities led him away, apparently because he uses a prosthetic leg, Wadkins said. The 2004 boat has three cabins, each with its own bathroom, and a satellite TV with Dolby surround sound, according to an online description of the boat. "It's not a tugboat." Rescue crews arrived at the beach around dawn, shortly after the first hints of daylight revealed the Darling, stuck in the shallows. Although the three people onboard initially said they didn't need any help, a Coast Guard swimmer was lowered from a helicopter and delivered a radio to the vessel, said Petty Officer Tom McKenzie , a Coast Guard spokesman. The vessel's owner was watching news coverage of the incident, took a hard look at the boat bobbing in the waves and realized it was his, said Sausalito police Sgt. Bill Fraass . "He had the TV on when he realized that his boat had been taken and called us," Fraass said. Once they learned they were dealing with more than just an unlucky set of sailors, Pacifica police officers joined the Coast Guard and local Fire Department on the beach. "They chose to steal the nicest sailboat, likely, in the entire marina," said Travis Lund , a base manager with Sunsail , a yacht charter company that has eight boats docked in the harbor. It would have taken some skill to navigate the boat out of the cramped marina, Lund said. Once Xstrav denies handing over his can the cop tells him to leave the property for trespassing. Out of nowhere an actual drunken stranger walks up starts giving shout outs and smelling like liquor...OBVIOUSLY drunk and he is just ignored and walks away without incident. Then the cop tells X to put his hands behind his back so X gets arrested for trespassing. This is just a classic case of a cop taking advantage of his power and arresting a another black man for not doing things the way HE wanted him to do them.
