OGDEN - A man wanted on suspicion of attempted murder was cornered – and captured by authorities, after a chase through Weber County on Thursday.
According to the U.S. Marshal’s Office, the suspect was spotted inside of a maroon car along Interstate 84 near Ogden. Due to a high volume of traffic at the time, the Utah Highway Patrol did not stop the vehicle for approximately 45 minutes.
When the suspect vehicle drove near Riverdale Road in Ogden a short time later, authorities blocked it in and forced two people onto the ground.
U.S. Marshal Mike Winger told that the suspect, Christopher Kim Leech, 28, was wanted on suspicion of attempted homicide by Taylorsville Police.
Investigators say Leech was involved in a road rage incident where he was driving with his wife and children and fire a gun at another driver on the road.
Winger mentioned that the alleged attack, for which Leech is wanted, occurred last week.
Authorities say Leech was carrying a weapon and ammunition in his pocket at the time of his arrest, and that he was subdued with a stun gun.
Officers believe Leech as reaching for the weapon when they attempted to remove him from the car, forcing the officer to use the stun gun.
Another person, who was driving the vehicle, was arrested and later released. It is unclear what, if any, charges he might face. However, officials say he will be investigated.
