A fire in a northwest Calgary neighbourhood caused millions of dollars in damage Wednesday, officials say.
Three homes in Royal Oak were destroyed and five others damaged after a blaze broke out at noon. No one was injured.
Firefighters battle the blaze in Royal Oak, where three homes were destroyed and five others damaged.
About 30 firefighters were called to the scene.
Deb Ferguson, a spokeswoman with the fire department, said newer homes are being built too close together.
"We're seeing more and more situations of rather than one home being destroyed we have three homes, just because of the proximity of the homes and the fact that the exterior of the homes, in this case vinyl siding, is not fire resistant."
