18 injured when swerving city bus rams into parked cars

A city bus rammed into 6-10 parked cars and barreled into a busy intersection in Crown Heights, Brooklyn last Saturday morning, causing 18 minor injuries.

Around 10:20 a.m., a car came to an “abrupt stop” in front of the B15 bus traveling along Troy Avenue in Brooklyn.

As it swerved to avoid the car, the bus plowed into cars parked along the side of the road and went into the intersection of Atlantic Avenue, where it caused a “chain reaction,”.

In all, 18 people reported injuries — seven on the bus and 11 others — though none were life threatening.

Among those taken to local hospitals was the bus driver, who was taken to Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center with back injuries.

6 to 10 cars were involved in the pileup, including one that burst into flames in the Atlantic intersection.

A spokesman for the New York City Police Department said that no criminality was suspected, but that an investigation was continuing.
