To many, tropical storm Debby was just considered a rain maker. For those who live in Florida, we're still dealing with some cleanup and flooding. One thing that was slightly overlooked was the mild tornado outbreak we experienced. I live in Sebring, Florida which is about an hour south east of Tampa and two hours south west of Orlando. We had a tornado a couple days ago that hit just south of here in a little town called Venus. That tornado claimed the life of a young mother.

Loving last grasp: Toddler saved, held tight in dead mother’s arms after tornado strikes mobile home, hurls them into dense woods

A young Florida mother was killed while clutching her 3-year-old daughter when a tornado struck her home and hurled them into the nearby woods.

Neighbors found the body of 32-year-old Heather Town about 200 feet from her mobile home in Venus, Fla., after storms hit the area on Sunday. Her daughter AnneMarie was alive, still wrapped in her dead mother’s arms.

“When they found her, she was literally holding her baby, her little girl,” witness Kim Bass told local station Fox 13. “They took the little child from her because she was having a hard time breathing and she had barbed wire on her and was in a very dense section of woods, about 50 feet back there.”

AnneMarie was rushed to a local hospital and is in stable condition with broken ribs and a broken pelvis, her grandfather Elmer Town told the station.

Town was pronounced dead at the scene.
