A Marion County school bus driver was arrested Friday for allegedly sending text messages with explicit sexual content to North Marion High School students.

Police arrested Joyce Sheldon, 45, and charged her with two felony counts of transmitting harmful materials to minors.

According to the police report, the messages started in December and continued into January. They came to light after one of the students got in trouble on the bus. That student turned the messages over to the principal.

The report also states that Sheldon asked a 15 year old about her sexual orientation and made derogatory comments about the student liking other girls. Students also told investigators the driver makes sexual comments to many students on her bus.

Marion county school officials say Sheldon has been driving for them for 19 years. She is on paid leave while they investigate what happened.
