  • With that submissive attitude you don't deserve anything other than minimum wage, no health care and little prospect for your future or your kids futures (if you can ever afford to have any).
You are exactly what the 1% want and expect from the 99% - A sucker who exists in near slavery, cos that enables them to keep up the lifestyles they are accustomed, to!

  • I'm pretty much in the same exact boat as you. I don't enjoy all the luxuries of everyone else, iPods, iPhones, latest hardwares, lcd tv's, cars, big homes.

I live in a apartment for $600/month. I've got my bachelors in IT. Been working for $7.50/hour for 40 hours a week. Still in debt over $4,000. I don't own a car, I can't afford it. I cook my own food because it's cheaper. Sometimes I eat noodles and butter for dinner. I never went on food stamps or collected unemployment.

    My problem is, co More..

  • Sucks to be you, my parents paid for my high priced, out of state tuition. Although, I did have a part time job too, plus an internship during my senior year.
I did notice how to receive a free(paid for by my tuition)education, though. Paint your face black or brown and change your name to something ethnic sounding, then they will use the money my parents paid to give you a free ride. And if you live in Texas, you can get an in-state tuition for illegally entering the country(thanks rick perry) More..

  • Translation: I'm happy with bankers having it all their own way and shafting our country and people. Lets not rock the boat in case the rich stop dropping crumbs for us to eat.

  • And when you graduate from your moderately priced in state college, if you can find a job that hasn't been outsourced, you will earn an income that is equivalent to that which was earned in 1973. You will indeed be one of the 99%.

  • Hey retard, you are the 99%. Just because you have no dept, and mediocre existence, doesn't mean shit. Your few messily tax dollars still go to bail out corporations and banks, while they enslave you with your shitty min wage job, while they keep taking bonus you paid with your tax dollars.

Complacent people like you put us in this mess, maybe it time you put down your marker & huge notepad and go get a real job.

  • Congratulations. You are mediocre.

Why do these people think they deserve a pat on the back?

By the way, people are upset about financial mismanagement of the mortgage industry that has caused foreclosures, and the algorithms in the stock market that artificially drive the market, and the trillion dollar debt.

I'm all for personal accountability, but the social issues of our day are well beyond the credit card management of a 20 year old.

I think this kid should have spend the extra money a More..

    • @Trenz-- I agree in part. I'd like to hear what kind of degree he's getting.

While on the one hand going to a better school not for the sake of the school but to make the right connections going forward was a good play. But that crowd is getting thinner and thinner and many people going to "good" schools racking up massive debt are not getting the pay off they thought. They're working at Starbucks if they're lucky.

Something is DEFINITELY wrong with our system today and if shit d More..

    • @Trenz-- Then your dumb ass should be pissed at Barney Frank and the dems for forcing the banks to lower their lending standards for people who had no ability to pay for the houses.

    • @amused0ne
I agree the Dems shouldn't have done that. Why do you think I am a Democrat? I'm not. I just don't think being a mediocre college student should be praiseworthy. I'm not part of the occupy movement, but I do agree the financial system is failing us. You'd be a fool not to think so. Why am I a dumb ass? Or, are you the type who simply sees an opinion that isn't yours and starts flailing? Yep...

  • Sorry, your numbers don't add up.At 50 hrs per wk,this hypothetical person is only taking home about 1200 a month. It is impossible to live on this while paying rent and other expenses associated with everyday life.Unless you are getting help somewhere.

  • You work a near full time job AND go to college at the same time? Something fishy about that.

    Posted Oct-13-2011 By

    • @Dick Fabulous

Why? My last year of high school I worked every evening from 5 to midnight weekdays plus 3 to 3 on Saturday. Driving cab and doing my homework between fares.

      Posted Oct-13-2011 By

    • @Dick Fabulous Why? I worked a full time job, also worked part-time about 20 hours per week and also was going to graduate school full time in the evenings. All that with 3 kids. I made it happen.

No, my grades stayed the same as they were before I started that job. No better, no worse.
Your claim was that it sounded fishy to go to school and work that many hours. It's completely plausible to do it. You just have to work harder for it.
