ROTTERDAM, N.Y. -- A 16-year-old boy is suing a police department outside Albany for $1 million after two officers broke his arm while trying to remove him from a school bus.
The altercation happenedat the teen's Rotterdam home last October.
A lawyer for the family tellsThe Times Union the boy, Jacob Gocheski, has psychiatric problems and was having his medication adjusted.
The bus driver called Rotterdam Police on Oct. 9, saying he felt he couldn't safely transport the teen to school.
A security video, which includes strong language, shows the officers trying to persuade him to get off the bus for 15 minutes.
When he doesn't respond, the officers pull him out of the seat and force his arms behind his back.
As they do, there is a loud crack.
Rotterdam Police Chief James Hamilton says the officers followed proper procedures.
