Really its just a short, and I mean short, overview of one of my favorite Rally cars which unfortunately, has slipped in to a mild obscurity and is never talked about.

  • Very nice rare rally car. Nice clip. You didn't mention that it didn't succeed in rally because the engine was under performing in low revs. Pitty, it could have been much better than that.

    Ford is the only American car manufacturer who understood what racing cars are in Europe and in the rest of the world. Muscle cars are nice looking on a straight line but that's it.

      Me to I seen it there also! But the best rally car ever has to be the Audi S1 Quattro!! Audi showed all the other car manufactures that they needed to start thinking out side of the box! When they introduced 4wd (Quattro) into rallying everyone said it wouldn't work aw they couldn't of been more wrong, now when you mention rallying or off roading 4wd is an absolute must....
      S1 is the greatest rally car EVER MADE and race proven...

    • @luisxbeltran The MR wasn't a rally car. It was just a performance package for the street car. The RS was the race package. It came with shitty steel rims because they knew you were just going to swap them for racing rims/tires anyways... They just gave you something to drive it off the lot with.

  • Since group b everything became a little more pedestrian, both in rallying and in manufacturing. Too bad I was born in the thick of it all.

    Mate had a familia GTR (homoglation model) and you see a few other rare JDM cars here (evo MR etc) being a JDM island lol. But not anything really exotic like an rs200, rarely come here at all to race let alone for sale.     • @mptrax It would get completely smoked. Muscle cars were never known for doing anything other than going fast in a straight line. And they weren't even that fast from the factory...

  • Always liked the RS200 as it was different to what Ford had previously produced.

    However,i still think it pales when compared to the mighty 6R4!

  • This car and the 6r4 took engineering to the limit when they first came out. 0-60 under 3 seconds, 0-100 under 5 seconds. Every schoolboys wet dream back in the day.

  • Awesome car, especially the rally edition. Too bad class-B got watered down. The RS200 is my favorite rally car ever, even over Suzuki's Escudo Pike's Peak rally car. I want a 1/8 scale lexan body for my RC rally truck but I can't find any, though. Great video.
