  • Ace Manor is in the house, the story of the Finns is great. Thier success inspired the US to create the 10th Mtn Division based at the time in Leadville, Colorado (10,000ft elevation).

The 10th Mountain Division was the only ones to successfully dislodge the Krauts from the Italian Alps.

Pete Seibert fought in this division and came back to creat Vail Mountain!

My only question is why are they wearing German style helmets?

    Thanks Ace Manor!

  • Checked out the Link, here is some 'trivia':

Director Pekka Parikka insisted on having a red star painted on the tanks, although there was no insignia on the Russian tanks during the Winter War, just an identification number painted on the turret.

Most expensive film ever made in Finland (2006).

The anti-tank gun used by the Finns in the first assault is a Swedish Bofors "37 PstK/36" (37 mm, model 1936) bought from Sweden in the late 1930's. At the time of the Winter War t More..

  • If I recall my history lessons correct, Finland recieved aid from Germany during the war. Not in means of men, but weapons and other equipment. This would explain why they wore them. Someone ought to look a little deeper into this.

    Nice vid Ace.
