International forces mistakenly killed six Afghan soldiers in the city of Kunduz, an Afghan defense ministry spokesman said Saturday.
Details of the friendly fire incident will be released later in the day, according to the spokesman, Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi.
Three German soldiers were killed and five others injured Friday night during a fierce encounter with the Taliban, according to Mohammad Omar, the governor of northern Kunduz province.
Omar said the Afghan National Army was called out to help, but international forces mistook them for Taliban fighters and began firing.
