No. BMP 1 & 2 have 33mm armor. Paper tanks.
An RPG7, even with the lowest warhead (PG-7) can penetrate 280mm and up to 700mm (PG-7VR).

@coolhund True but the thickest part on the turret is the side. With an impact that would only detonate the warhead but have the jet miss completely, you would have nearly this result. But yes you are correct, 99.99 times out of 100 an RPG to the hull will knock it out in 1 hit. Plus the turrets on these Soviet POSs fly like rockets! Who ever thought storing the ammo around the turret was a good idea probably got executed when the Soviets figured out its major flaw. POP!

Im pretty sure its the front thats thickest (both on hull and turret), just like on any tank and IFV, and the thickest armor is 33mm on the BMP 1 & 2. Even the BMP3 doesnt have much more.

Bad hit, an RPG will destroy a BMP-1 and pop the turret off. But you have to hit the hull. The top turret has the most armor on it's side, right where it impacted.

OK, I was in the Air Force, so I don't know jack about ground forces. It doesn't seem like a good idea, however, to not have infantry support for armored vehicles.
