LAS VEGAS -- Nearly three dozen people with ties to various gangs were arrested following a three-day crackdown across southern Nevada, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said Friday.
The arrests are part of an ongoing multi-agency law enforcement operation dubbed Operation Community Shield, which has netted more than 18,000 gang members and associates since 2005.
This week’s total included a 26-year-old previously deported Mexican national with ties to the Park Avenue street gang and an 18-year-old Mexican national member of the 18th Street gang, according to ICE.
The majority of those arrested, 27, are from Mexico, but ICE officials said the group also includes people from El Salvador, the Philippines, Honduras, Cuba, Guatemala and Laos.
