AWAKE - 1st 7 minutes.

Going through the TV guide came across this new TV show which looks both original and well conceived (something which has been missing in recent years)

Awake stars Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter,” “Brotherhood”) as a detective
who finds he is leading a complex double life that defies reality.

Awake is an intriguing drama about Detective Michael Britten (Isaacs) who finds he’s living two parallel lives. He’s involved in a car accident that seems to have killed both his son and wife,
yet his mind creates an ingenious coping mechanism in which he now lives two separate lives – one where his wife survived and the other where his son did. Trying to regain some normalcy, Michael returns to solving crimes in both worlds with the help of two different partners, Detective Isaiah “Bird” and Detective Efrem Vega. Michael is assigned a different case in each reality and quickly

  • LoL Another Britisher playing an American (Citizen, United States of). There seems to be a whole long line of them lately, probably because they come cheaper than the huge glitterati like Hanks, Cruise and De Niro. Looks like an interesting film. Unless it goes straight to DVD though, I probably won't see it until next year.

I remember Simon Mayo on 5 Live used to always give a "Hello Jason Isaacs" out on nearly every Friday edition film review.

    • @fido321 I think it was more that American audiences wouldn't recognise an British actor so much and so they can initially pay them less than they would have to pay a big star. Once they gather fame, like Laurie though, then negotiational clout is bigger.

There's also that geezer in True Blood who I didn't even know was British until I saw him in an interview.

Having said that about British actors though, I thought Jillian Anderson done a fecking amazing job as Lady Deadlock and Miss Havisham More..
