(NaturalNews) Terrorizing innocent travelers at airports is simply not enough for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The agency recently tested a new program known as VIPER (Visual Intermodal Protection and Response) which involved placing Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials at Greyhound bus stations in Tampa to pat down and grope ground travelers. The agency even brought in local police with sniff dogs to allegedly help improve overall security.

Gary Milano, the federal security director for TSA at Tampa International Airport and several surrounding airports, told reporters at a press conference that the purpose of the new measure is "to sort of invent the wheel in advance, in case ... there ever is specific intelligence requiring us to be here. This way, us and our partners are ready to move in at a moment's notice."

In other words, there really is no legitimate -- or legal -- reason for TSA agents be frisking passengers at bus stops, but as long as the cited reasons include "security", the public is simply supposed to accept the unwarranted checkpoints as a necessary evil for the sake of improved safety.

"What we're looking for are threats to national security as well as immigration law violators," explained Steve McDonald from the U.S. Border Patrol, also trying to legitimize the efforts to the public.

But the endeavor is really nothing more then yet another violation of civil liberties in the name of security. Harassing travelers and looking for "immigration law violators" without a warrant is a clear violation of the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which states that "a search or seizure is generally unreasonable and unconstitutional, if conducted without a valid warrant."

TSA Told To Tell Children That Groping Them Is A Game... Horrifying Sex Abuse Experts
from the that's-not-a-game dept

Apparently TSA agents are being told that one way to handle the new groping pat downs for children is to try to make it out to be some sort of "game." This is apparently horrifying some sex abuse experts who point out that a common tactic in abuse cases is to tell the kids that they're just "playing a game." The TSA has said that the newer patdowns will not apply to children under 12, but the rules have been somewhat unclear -- leading to the statement from a TSA director, James Marchand:

"You try to make it as best you can for that child to come through. If you can come up with some kind of a game to play with a child, it makes it a lot easier."

He also said that the idea of making it a game would become a part of the TSA's training. Ken Wooden, who runs an organization to try to stop sex abuse of children was not pleased:

"How can experts working at the TSA be so incredibly misinformed and misguided to suggest that full body pat downs for children be portrayed as a game?" Wooden asked in an email. "To do so is completely contrary to what we in the sexual abuse prevention field have been trying to accomplish for the past thirty years."

Exclusive: TSA frisks groom children to cooperate with sex predators, abuse expert says

tsachildpatdown Exclusive: TSA frisks groom children to cooperate with sex predators, abuse expert saysAn expert in the fight against child sexual abuse is raising the alarm about a technique the TSA is reportedly using to get children to co-operate with airport pat-downs: calling it a "game".

Ken Wooden, founder of Child Lures Prevention, says the TSA's recommendation that children be told the pat-down is a "game" is potentially putting children in danger.

Telling a child that they are engaging in a game is "one of the most common ways" that sexual predators use to convince children to engage in inappropriate contact, Wooden told Raw Story.

Children "don't have the sophistication" to distinguish between a pat-down carried out by an airport security officer and an assault by a sexual predator, he said.

The TSA policy could "desensitize children to inappropriate touch and ultimately make it easier for sexual offenders to prey on our children," Wooden added.

Following an outcry last month over the use on children of "enhanced pat-downs" -- which involve the touching of genitals -- the TSA announced a new "modified" pat-down for children under 12. However, as the LA Times noted, the new rules are "unclear" on whether TSA agents can touch children's genitals.

Addressing the controversy over pat-downs of children last month, TSA regional security director James Marchand told the press the TSA was working on new practices to make children more comfortable during the pat-down process.

"You try to make it as best you can for that child to come through. If you can come up with some kind of a game to play with a child, it makes it a lot easier," said Marchand, promising to make it part of TSA training.

tsapatdown2 Exclusive: TSA frisks groom children to cooperate with sex predators, abuse expert saysWooden, who has testified before Congress on child safety issues on numerous occasions, says he was told by a TSA agent that the practice has been used.

He added: "This policy is also incredibly insensitive to the countless victims who have already been traumatized by unwanted touching in their lives and could be re-traumatized by such pat-downs."

On Tuesday, TSA administrator John Pistole said the agency may change its screening rules for victims of sex abuse. He also said the TSA had no plans to continue expanding the airport screening process.

"I think we are at the most thorough that we will probably be in terms of our physical screening," he announced.

Feds Are Warrantlessly Tracking Americans’ Credit Card Use in Real Time
Posted by Jim Hoft on Friday, December 3, 2010, 5:00 AM

Not only are the feds using naked scanners and groping your little boy and 80 year-old nuns at airports and bus stations but they are watching your credit card purchases without warrants.
But, it’s all OK because Barack Obama is in the White House.

A new document released under a government sunshine request shows that federal law enforcement officials have been traking Americans’ credit card use without warrants.
Wired News reported:

Federal law enforcement agencies have been tracking Americans in real-time using credit cards, loyalty cards and travel reservations without getting a court order, a new document released under a government sunshine request shows.

The document, obtained by security researcher Christopher Soghoian, explains how so-called “Hotwatch” orders allow for real-time tracking of individuals in a criminal investigation via credit card companies, rental car agencies, calling cards, and even grocery store loyalty programs. The revelation sheds a little more light on the Justice Department’s increasing power and willingness to surveil Americans with little to no judicial or Congressional oversight.

For credit cards, agents can get real-time information on a person’s purchases by writing their own subpoena, followed up by a order from a judge that the surveillance not be disclosed. Agents can also go the traditional route — going to a judge, proving probable cause and getting a search warrant — which means the target will eventually be notified they were spied on.

The document suggests that the normal practice is to ask for all historical records on an account or individual from a credit card company, since getting stored records is generally legally easy.

Censorship on the web – Is Alex Jones the beginning?

Alex Jones gets banned from Google

Today both Google and its subsidiary company YouTube has banned the Alex Jones websites and channels in an attempt to quiet the libertarian.

But is Alex Jones really a libertarian who can be silenced? Google, YouTube and the government would like that. Claims by Alex Jones, backed by research by him and his team, have revealed how his websites and networks are being targeted for the very nature of his uncensored content.

Infowars.com and PrisonPlanet.com, previously included in the popular Google news distribution, have been banned. His YouTube channel, TheAlexJonesChannel will be banned soon as well.

According to YouTube’s support team, his channel was flagged by users because of a video on the channel that contained controversial video of the Apache helicopter “collateral murder” in Iraq in 2007 that was released by Wikileaks and later released by TheAlexJonesChannel as well as news conglomerates like CNN and ABC. YouTube notified Alex Jones of the removal of this video.

TheAlexJonesChannel attempted to challenge the removal of this video via YouTube’s counter-notification form, and was subsequently told that the account would be disabled and new content blocked, as his channel is offensive and otherwise goes against their community guidelines.

Is censorship really happening in front of our eyes online? With the speed of the internet, can the government really silence the truth? Here’s Alex Jones’ retort.
