The ABC 7 I-Team has learned that Josh Wolf may be released from the Federal Penitentiary in Dublin as early as this afternoon. Wolf has spent 223 days behind bars, after refusing to release outtakes of video he shot of a July 2005 protest in which an SFPD officer was badly injured. A judge ordered Wolf to prison for contempt, after the 24 year-old refused to provide the outtakes to a federal grand jury.
A spokeswoman for Wolf tells the I-Team that authorities have assured him, he will never have to testify in court or identify activists on his videotape. As a result, Wolf has just posted the entire video he shot that day at http://feeds.feedburner.com/thisrevolution/.
Wolf has been imprisoned longer than any other journalist in U.S. history.
