This is more symbolic than anything. It says to the world "yes we're still here and we are still fighting". From a strategic standpoint this was a good move for them, but tactically it was doomed like most of their operations.

For those who claim it's a win for ANSF, they were danish SF on the ground and US blackhawks provided air support.
But I understand the american point of view, after all, only the mainstream media in the US is capable of calling this mess a "progress" and I trust generations of americans will call the afghan war an "american victory".
