Montreal Student Protests

As a "Montrealer" I would like to know what the rest of the world thinks. Has it been in the news where your from.. The Formula 1 was effected here.. Personally I think they are over doing it.. As a result we have this new law called bill 78, cant protest and cant wear a mask. Also you have to call the police to tell them your route. You cant be more than 50 people.... Seems to me like american shit has come to canada. Is this a big deal on your news staition? Comments Appreciated.

  • Hello man!
It has and is still a subject for French media, a lot of criticism on your "law called bill 78", for me it seems very hard a 75% raise, if I did understand the raise is to get the Quebec region on country level... education should be free for all, but equity is a top rule as well!
    Complicate subject, bonne chance! :)

  • I was born in Montreal, and these student have the right to protest. If some rich folk have their race temporarily inconvenienced, tough shit. A whole mess of Canadians facing a life time of crippling debt is more important to me than a bunch of foriegn millionaires racing their cars around.

  • All Canadians, and in particular Quebeckers, should be polite. They should not demonstrate in numbers against their government, so as to not embarrass it publicly.

  • Question authority.

Seems you Canadians don't know who you are. You're not Americans. You're not Britons.

You are tied to the American economy and remain subjugated to British rule, never mind the details, the fact is you are.

You Canadians are too polite, nice guys finish last. Man up a notch or two already, Sheesh!

George Washington did not get the British to leave by politely asking them to do so.

    He shot them.

  • I was there protesting at the Formula 1 fund raiser event for children hospital charity. Because fuck those sick children, they are government shills.

Viva la revolution in Quebec. We are mad as hell, and we won't stop protesting until we get everything for free from our government. And we will keep disrupting Formula 1 events or other festivals in Montreal that helps strengthening the very economy that is paying for our free stuff.

  • I'm not sure how to answer the question. I don't know anything about the protests. But the law seems too restrictive. Almost like the law here in Sweden. There is no reason why you shouldn't be allowed to wear a mask. Not everybody wants to be profiled by the government, so they should be perfectly free to remain anonymous. It is not an unreasonable time to wear a mask. Also, calling ahead to let them know your route is really only a way for them to organize ahead of time, how to stop your prote More..

  • Sure it's their right to protest. Even if they're protesting tuition rates that would still be lower than anywhere in North America. The problem is the protesting never stops. I know many will thumb me down because I dare say there should be reasonable limits on protesting. I have to ask however, what of the rights of the other citizens who aren't protesting? Our Charter allows freedom of movement. Why should we be constantly constrained because protesters wish to block our path for perpet More..

  • I'm from Montreal.. I'm in those protest and the media is just telling shit... Don't believe the media... they are on the corporation's (government) side.. The fight is fair, the demands too. This gov that was elected by 24% of the population is corrupt..We all know about that here.. time to trow them out.. Even if we're not talking about the student protest, there is enough shit going on in this government that actions have to be taken by the people since they're suppressing many basic human r More..
