MYFOXNY.COM - According to Essex County authorities a teen was killed when the stolen SUV he was driving crashed into a concrete barrier in Newark early Sunday morning.
Police said 15-year-old Deyshawn Grimes was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Essex County prosecutor’s office said the SUV was reported stolen in Kearny and that it was involved in a minor accident with second stolen vehicle a few minutes before the fatal crash around 4:15 am.
A police officer was notified of the initial minor accident by a witness and when the officer drove toward the stolen cars they drove off and later crashed near Route 21 and Bridge Street.
The second car was stolen in East Orange and the teens in that car fled the scene and, according to police, have not yet been caught.
