Ahmedabad: A Gandhinagar boy who kissed a girl -- a fellow student of the government polytechnic -- to win a bet, on Thursday, apparently shocked the campus and nearly ended up in the law's cold embrace.
The boy, Ritesh Makwana (name changed), was goaded into showing machismo by three friends. He took up the challenge, carried out the act, and fled with manly energy.
Ritesh might have impressed his friends, but his act enraged the institution so much that it has promised stern action against him. It is unlikely that Ritesh will now bet on the truth of the saying: 'Stolen kisses are the sweetest'.
The principal of the polytechnic, HS Patel, confirmed the kiss-and-run attack and said that a departmental enquiry would be carried out to get to the bottom of the incident. Patel said that not only will Ritesh be punished, but his friends will also be disciplined.
"The girl was sitting near one of the polytechnic buildings, while Ritesh's gang was in the parking lot," a source in the polytechnic said. "He sneaked up to her, kissed her and ran away from the spot."
The girl was numb with shock, an eyewitness, Rakshit Shah, told DNA. "In fact, the whole campus was stunned. People began to gather around the girl immediately after the incident." The girl was too disturbed to even speak, Shah said.
Later, the principal informed the girl's parents about the incident, and they came looking for Ritesh. The girl took a scheduled exam soon after she was attacked, but Ritesh did not.
Eventually, Ritesh was found and produced before the principal. The girl's parents first considered the idea of filing a police complaint, but later decided to spare the boy that embarrassment.
