I think Star Treck is the most influential and most important TV series ever. Why? Because a lot of the boys and girls who watched it in the 70s and 80s are now engineers who developed all the amazing technology we have now. Everywhere you look now you find things of Star Treck come to reality.

I've seen every episode at least 3 times, probably 2 or 3 times that
I was an aeronautical engineer who specialized in rocket motors.

TREK RULES! and the first Enterprise will always be the best. Although the re-fit looks sharp.

@zacarra The proposed Enterprise F is pretty awesome(quantum slipstream drive-folding space,bionetic weapons,temporal quantum computers).

I would NOT have pegged Neil deGrasse Tyson as a Trekkie or ComicCon fan. Maybe he was just having some fun. The crowd sure liked it.

He makes a great point...I used to run around the house with my mom's pancake flipper, turned upside down, and pretended it was the Enterprise back in 1970! My brother had to staple two paper plates together to make the saucer (The Jupiter) from Lost in Space!
