Need I say it?
Don't believe everything you hear.
I am sure NeoThinker meant well and was not deliberately misleading, but like so many, he HEARD what he WANTED to hear.
He got his statistics BACKWARDS.
Approximately 3 in 4 Americans have read a book in the last year (73% to be exact.)
The typical American (median) read 3.9 books last year, and the average (mean) number of books read was 14.9. These stats include those who read nothing (and are obviously dragging the 'averages' down.)
I encourage you to get the information from the SOURCE, if you at all give a damn. It is interesting reading and has some political polling as well.
