  • Yes they are real and yes they are some of the most dangerous lasers you can get.

445nm burns things like your retina much faster than say 532nm typical green DPSS laser, or a 650nm red. More energy per photon. Smaller wavelength.

Burning things is great till you are sick of it. Then you actually want to show people your beam without blinding them.

Go for greens, they are brighter per watt, get good goggles, the goggles wicked laser ships is not near sufficient for a direct strike from the 4 More..

    • @N4CR Good words N4CR,all very true.
Ive got the goggles and when i use this they are on.
      one mistake on my half.
its kinda invisible when you wear the goggles and doing it in a confined space i thought feck it no goggles today.

Try different material colours, will help you see points easier.
Do you have wicked goggles or another type? Be very careful with the wicked goggles if so.. they do not filter the laser as much as they need to be safe, on a direct or directly reflected beam strike.
Using in confined space without goggles, as your eyes adjust to extreme blue exposure you will get used to it, that's when you start getting eye damage.. please be careful, we'd like you to stick around LL!

For one it'd be very easy to see where it comes from if they are not close enough to flash blind. People have done it with greens already and most are caught.
Lasers like this are just a big rounded stick pointing towards you at very far distances.

  • Where can you buy one of those, and for how much?

    Posted May-4-2012 By

    • @Bthor420 Wicked Lazers sells them for $200+, but you can supposedly make one cheaper yourself with a blueray laser, if you are willing to cannibalise a blue ray player.

these are *not* toys. they can blind you instantly. permanently. learn lots and lots of laser safety, start small, check out greens and why they are better every day use and invest in some GOOD goggles, not the stuff that comes with them.

    • @Bthor420 www.wickedlasers.com

BLUE LASERS can have a higher energy output, up to 1000 milliwatts (1 watt!)
GREEN LASERS will have a smaller ourput, up to 500-750 milliwatts but are more bright because of some inherent qualities of a green light and the way our retina absorbs it.

Just after this vid was shot, his internet went down mysteriously.
Some speculate it was due to a faulty router. Others speculate government involvement.

  • Was that a grinder on the table in front of the computer?

  • Very nice. Hope you didn't burn your wall xD

Blue is the best IMO because it is brighter, but green can be seen more easily in the day time. Also blue has a messy beam but that doesn't matter for these purposes :)

Thanks for the demo and the shout out!

Actually the eye has a sensitivity peak around lime green with daylight vision and slightly deeper 'starwars' green with night vision in place.
Depends on which study you look at.

Blue is generally 3-5x less bright. However you are partially right because there is a newly discovered brightness peak around 445nm... which is where these lasers work. Not as bright as green but not as much of a difference as we thought.
It's not very good for our eyes though in high concentrations. Same f More..
