The body of the latest Canadian soldier to be killed in Afghanistan has come home. McKay was killed last Thursday — just two days before the end of his first tour — when an improvised explosive device exploded during a night patrol south of Kandahar City. The 144th Canadian soldier to die in Afghanistan since 2002, a military aircraft brought his body to CFB Trenton. Keeping in the sad custom that has become too common for Canadians, the hearse carrying his body made the trek west to Toronto along the stretch of Hwy. 401, known as the Highway of Heroes.
