Marine Corps School of Infantry

School of Infantry's training mission ensures "Every Marine is, first and foremost, a Rifleman."

After graduating boot camp, all Marines must attend Marine Corps School of Infantry regardless of their occupation. Marines who graduated boot from Parris Island, South Carolina attend SOI at Camp Geiger, MCB Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Marines who graduated boot camp in San Diego, California attend SOI at Camp Pendleton, CA.

Marines designated as infantry Marines will be assigned to Infantry Training Battalion (ITB) once they report to SOI. ITB is specifically for Marines entering in the Military Occupation Speciality of: Rifleman, Machinegunner, Mortarman, Assaultman, or Anti-Tank Guided Missleman. ITB's course is 51 days total.

All other Marines will report to Marine Combat Training (MCT) battalion once at School of Infantry. MCT's course is 22 days long.
