The Iron Claw Experience

We were the first IED hunters, had the first Buffalo in country for a full year. (Unit we took it from had it 3 months) Found 200+ IEDs.... ambushed a lot... hell of a tour. March 04 to March 05. I operated a Meerkat, the smaller of the two vehicles.

  • I wonder how often this particular soldier and his vehicle were featured in those MUST SEE videos? You know, the ones where the crew is always killed.

  • wow, thanks a lot insurgents, your feeble attempts to hurt our soldiers have lead to the creation of vehicles that will safeguard millions more for decades to come...funny how the insurgents are the ones who are responsible for making our army even stronger, lol

    • Well that is warfare. You keep trying to improve on your enemy to get an advantage. The thing is though, if you make every vehicle IED proof, they will begin to use another tactic that attacks your weak point. Probably alot more infilitration tactics. America is fighting a guerilla war in Iraq and is destined to lose there. It is inevitable. You are behind the 8 ball. But yea, these guys in this vid are pretty brave. Peace.

    • true, this war is way past win or lose tho, it is a matter or time till we leave, we never planned to stay and we wont,4000 lives is a cost of war but they will not be for nothing as this war has taught us invaluable lessons, and IED is gorilla warfares best weapon...to limit that is to break the back of resistance

    • Well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I don't know how insurgents thought they could prevail.

  • sgtellioman, THANK YOU for your service. You not only saved the lives of many fellow brothers, but you also saved the lives of those innocent civilians always caught up in these IED blasts. Soldiers like you who operate on such a dangerous level (200 IEDS, wow) should be awarded for not only the size of your balls, but your sheer bravery.

A Glad you made it out.

    • There always has to be one boner on every thread. Congrats, you are that boner.

    • It would have been nice if Saddam would have allowed the WMD inspections teams in BEFORE 2003, when we had to come in and *check up* on his operations. I guess you would have just gone on the hope that Saddam wasn't developing them. Great video, soldiers.
