Prison for Owing Child Support?

Courtney Labonte of Connecticut is the non-custodial parent. Her son is 14 years old. She owes child support even though she is homeless, has a heart condition, and doesn't have a job. [full interview clip and more info, click here]. Should she face jail for this? Could days of court and then prison end her life?

Should only criminals faces all this court stuff and prison? Why should raising a family involve fines, arrests, and prison in modern America?

Most non-custodial parents are fathers, not mothers. Putting mothers in prison who don't have jobs and can't pay child support is something too many men know all too well. Lawyers are in the legislature. Playing with children's lives in courts and playing with their parents means big money for states. They get federal tax dollars to keep people in courts. If 70% of wealth on average is lost in a divorce, and if 3/4 of married couples divorce the lawyers and bankers are getting rich and the economy is tanking. Lawyers should not legislate abuse for citizens and more money for lawyers.
