Marines from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit's Tank platoon, attached
to Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, take part
in live-fire training at Udairi Range in Kuwait City, July 26, 2012.
The M1A1 Abrams tanks, an attachment from the Camp Lejeuene based 2nd
Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, fired a total of 24 high explosive
rounds at targets scattered throughout the barren desert training range.
The 24th MEU is currently deployed with the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready
Group as a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force providing support
for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation
efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.

  • something about training videos just doesn't do it for me, must be the close to million vids i have seen of apache and other videos showing a city worth of dead being blown up that puts paper and metal targets to shame

    anyone know if the spent casing gets ejected outside the tank like other tanks or apcs?

      No. The only thing remaining from the munition is a metal stub that gets thrown into a cradle at the back of the main gun as it recoils.
